AP: Hawaii teacher's cure clears way for new saint

I had thought that Damien had already been canonized. 😊

This story is a wonderful thing to wake up to. I am thankful for Ms. Toguchi’s restored health and for the Church confirming the second miracle attributed to Fr. Damien’s intercession. His life is inspiring.
 
I am not well-versed on the canonization procedure, but articles I have read lead me to believe the rest of the process is a series of formalities. Anybody know better?

I’m not sure where Fr. Damien’s cause is in the process, but I would hesitate to call any part of it formality.
