" Furman believes “the months preceding the November election could offer Trump the chance to brag — truthfully — about the most explosive monthly employment numbers and GDP growth ever.” And Politico offers this eye-popping quote:
Furman’s counterintuitive pitch has caused some Democrats, especially Obama alumni, around Washington to panic. “This is my big worry,” said a former Obama White House official who is still close to the former president. Asked about the level of concern among top party officials, he said, “It’s high — high, high, high, high.”"

Just speaking truth. I am sure the. King of Siam means something but all I know is he liked to dance with an English woman.

And again…and again. What’s he up to now, his 7th bankruptcy? And his second market crash? And his 3rd or 4th subsidy to farmers? And his third attempted trade deal with China?

And his third attempt to eliminate coverage for pre-existing conditions

Who else can wipe out 10 years of job growth in five weeks and be so narcissistic about it?

Apparently, the Dem governors of the states that mandated the shut downs.

Maybe but the Fed had already started the repo program, an inverted yield curve predicted trouble, retail stores were losing money, farmers were being bailed out, and an oversupply of oil and other commodities developed before Coronavirus. People were already standing in unemployment lines before the governors acted.

Any Dems in Congress or among the electorate who fear the economy might rebound and improve Trump’s chances for reelection are sick people. By the same token, any Reps who think that the shutdowns are a political ploy to decrease Trump’s opportunity to be reelected are sorely mistaken. Yet politics manages to creep into everything including matters of life and death as well as economic and financial disaster. Who would have thought a global pandemic would occur in the first place and then take such an ugly turn?

Democrats want what’s best for our country
So do Republicans. It’s just that we disagree on what IS best for our country.

Looks like with his continued deregulation he is up to rebuilding our economy a 2nd time.

Did you just blame President Trump for the past 8 weeks of economy? If so, would you be consistent enough to give him credit for the economy before or after this shutdown?
People were already standing in unemployment lines before the governors acted.
We had the lowest unemployment rate in decades. The lowest EVER among black Americans. I’m sure there were some people standing in the unemployment lines, but there weren’t very many.

CDC guidelines mandated the shut down to save lives. Air Traffic is shut down to save lives. If you support Trump, why would you deny this?
At some point it is duplicitous.

When Obama came to office, he inherited an imminent Depression. Sometimes you don’t get to start with a head start. Biden will inherit disaster economic figures if he wins.
Bringing us back from crisis in history always makes for great presidencies, not riding the crest.
You couldn’t have had more miserable circumstances than the Civil War. Guess who is on the 5 spot

Yes, I think you have made your opinions very clear. All Republicans bad. All Democrats good.

I didn’t say that. I didn’t mention bad or good. I described truths about Presidential greats and the mediocre and bad. Lincoln had economics from hell. FDR did. It wasn’t about an inherited economic trend of a portion of one term that made them great. Lincoln was a Republican by the way

The post I was replying to posited a question about who would take narcissistic glee in wrecking the economy.
It’s was the governors who made the call to shut down businesses.

The question was not about airports and saving lives.

Governor’s shut down businesses to save lives. To protect hospitals. Not to get glee

Look at the post I was replying to.

That poster was accusing whoever “wrecked the economy” of having some sort of narcissism mixed up in the decision making.

Looks like he could deregulate us right into the worst economy we’ve seen since the great depression.

Lets take people out of mining holes (black lung was never pleasant) instead of promising them a return. MANY of them are challenging the old thinking about returning to jobs of the past and preparing for a strong future.

I see more and more solar panels and hear of towns powering their electrical supply through turbines in water pipes…ingenious!~ More money in consumers pockets.

I’m not convinced that pre Corona the economy was that good…After almost 4 years of Trump, the average Joe did not have enough savings to power through being out of work for a month, and evidently the super powered corps., banks, and “too big to fail” companies stood in line for bail outs?? hahaha…Not buying it.
