Archbishop Burke issues decree against Fr. Bozek: denounces him for simony and heresy

Thank Our Lord for Bishops and Archbishops like Burke. What a difficult and painful process this must be for him; to see a priest lost in such a senseless disobedience and dissidence.
The CTA folks have made him a poster child for there causes. So sad when there is so much good happening in the church right now to celebrate.

Did he explain why the charge of Simony?

I wasnt there myself- only heard about the event from my sources in St. Louis.

I think, though I cannot be sure, that Bozek attempted to purchase an Episcopal Consecration from a schismatic bishop (Milingo maybe). That would account for the charge of Simony. If not that I do not know.

I read that in the Review this weekend. I’m a little confused about the simony charge. Is that because Bozek is excommunicated, so he’s technically not allowed to offer sacraments, so any stipend he might receive would automatically be simony? Or was he actually outright charging for sacraments?
