God must be both male and female.
Though God is neither male nor female, He reveals Himself to us through Sacred Scripture as the Father. Fathers are referred to as he. People get upset because as a general rule, when someone refers to God as “she” the intent is to thwart traditionally held views grounded in Sacred Scripture.

I’ve never understood why people get so upset over referring to God as “She”.

And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.
Gen 1:27

Since both male and female are created in God’s image, God must be both male and female.
It’s not so much refering to God as She but in this and some cases, it’s very obviously contrived to make a point. I don’t really sit around wondering if God has xx or xy chromosomes. But I think that some groups deliberately have this ‘in your face’ attitude.

There are female images of God that I find lovely and comforting…gathering as a hen gathers her chicks for one. I just think these ladies were out to make a point and using the name of God to do so. Rather blasphemous IMO.

I had asked my priest if he KNEW a parishioner was in a state of sin and had not received rite of reconciliation, could he refuse communion and he said yes if he KNEW, not if he just speculated or assumed. Since the Rainbow Sashayers are making their sin public, it’s hardly a matter of not knowing.

I just pray that if this protest is staged that it doesn’t get ugly. We are on the same page.

I wonder if your pasor applies that to the divorced and remarried (without anullemnt)? Or those singles who live together without benefit of marriage?
As for the Rainbow Sashers he could decide that he doesn’t KNOW in any individual case what behavior they are engaging in. Rather jesuitical, I know, but unless he has direct knowledge he may not feel he can refuse them the Sacrament.

I can’t believe a man of Apb. Flynn’s intellect could possibly be fooled into thinking that wearing the rainbow sash was anything other than an affront to God and his church. But that is between him and God, we’ll never know.

At any rate, this serious error has been corrected. And as they say, admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

Let’s hope the Vatican won’t have to hold the American church’s hand for too long. I suspect this won’t be the last episode where otherwise “flexible” churchmen do a complete 180.

Catholic Minnesotans have a special responsibility to pray much for their Archbishop. For enforcing Church teaching, people will hate Apb. Flynn and catholics in general. But then, anti-catholicism remained rampant even when (e.g.) Apb. Flynn’s liberalism was at it’s peak.

If the visible enemies of the church are upset, chances are the church is doing something right. Thank God.
