Gomez as coadjutor archbishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Denver’s Archbishop Charles Chaput noted that his confrere has a “great gift for bringing people together” and is the “perfect choice to lead the Archdiocese of Los Angeles after Cardinal Mahony retires.”
