The proposal to allow Anglican spouses of Catholics to receive Holy Communion will be discussed at the synod next week
A synod proposal to allow Anglican spouses of Catholics to receive Holy Communion has been rejected by the Archbishop of Birmingham.
The proposal, contained in the working document is due to be discussed at the synod next week.

Then being catholic is actually a drawback, seeing how we are expected to receive communion only in a state of grace where anglicans may come forward to recieve whenever they like (in theory they’re only allowed occasionally, but in praxis it will mean that they go whenever their at mass).

If I miss ONE sunday mass without a good reason I’m cut off from the eucharist while they may come and go as they like…
They even have female clergy for !

They are far worse than most other protestants, Confessional Lutherans should be considered closer to Catholicism than the Anglicans…

Talk about making its own believers second class citizens…

If this happens it will be an earthquake to my trust in the church and that is to put it nice.
In the old days suggestions like this would’ve fell under the disipline of excommunication or at least been seen as heretical.

Yes, this is a horrble, silly idea. It reminds me of y state giving in-state college tuition to illegal immigrants, but to members of the military living in the state.

Not sure who proposed it, but it is terrible. Glad it was shot down.

I am glad the proposal was rejected. It would be irresponsible to let one Commune if they were not in a state of grace.

Mary.
