Returning to topic.
There’s not been much update on the deposition. I have written Lilly Fowler, the journalist who penned several stories locally, but nothing has been made of why the attorney has decided release a confidential deposition. I’d write the attorney myself but he’d probably find reason to sue me for something.

There have been several protests (this isn’t unusual) in front of the Basilica where the Archbishop is seated. There was one counter-protester. It’s a little difficult to say “Do you remember what happened 30 years ago? No? Forgive him that much.” to a group of riled-up individuals.

Della, the media does cover other cases of abuse among police officers, teachers, and coaches. I see something in the news about that every week, so theyre really not singling out the Church.

Also, the cover ups are unfortunately not a conspiracy theory, but a worldwide reality. I think this is what angers people the most and what has shaken many peoples faith in the Church.

True, but unlike Catholic clergy the media tends not to imply that police officers, teachers and coaches who abuse children are representative of their profession. When a teacher abuses a child the narrative will paint him as a bad person; conversely, when a priest abuses a child he’s member of a society of pedophiles.

The Carlson deposition, video and transcript, was released with the permission of the court. All recent depositions regarding this matter have been made viewable by the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis. It was not the unilateral decision of an attorney. They can be read or viewed on the Archdiocese website.

I give credit it to the Archdiocese for doing this, warts and all.
