MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, November 29, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Minnesota Majority, a non-partisan issue advocacy group seeking to restore traditional values to Minnesota’s public policy, has provided the populace a method of aiding Archbishop John C. Nienstedt in the fight to affirm the Catholic Church’s teaching on homosexuality.

Archbishop Nienstedt came under heavy criticism last week for writing an article defending his decision to bar advocates of the homosexual lifestyle from speaking at Catholic institutions. His article explained the Church’s teaching regarding both a homosexual’s obligation to chastity and the Church’s obligation to support and encourage such a chaste lifestyle.

The Archbishop is enduring a strong backlash from the media in the notoriously liberal archdiocese. He has been labeled a peddler of “spiritual violence” and a persecutor of the homosexual community. The hostile articles ignored Archbishop Nienstedt’s citations of recent documents promulgated by the USCCB concerning homosexuality.

I’m confused too. The archibishops statements seem compatible with jim’s opinions stated here in the past.

why the yawns?
Because the OP seems to repetitiously address this topic and nothing else. We know his opinion which is not always in line with Church teaching that SSA is not sinful, only the actions are. He is one of those rare breed that seems to think that one cannot be chaste and be SSA at the same time.

OOOOOOOOO! Well, ok then.

The article says:

“Archbishop Nienstedt came under heavy criticism last week for writing an article defending his decision to **bar advocates of the homosexual lifestyle from speaking at Catholic institutions.”

**Only in your imagination does he say that one cannot be chaste and be SSA at the same time.

The Archbishop states the truth. The OP disagrees.

In that case Silvername did nothing wrong.
goofyjim’s point is that he, the OP, keeps posting articles and threads in regards to the Church and SSA. Apparently, the OP feels that all homosexuals are wrong, and disagrees with the Church that being a homosexual is not wrong, it is wrong to ACT on the homosexual feelings.

Am I correct goofyjim?

You know this how? Show me.

I know what how? What the OP does, or what goofyjim said? I have never been in convo with the OP, so I have no idea. I can only go with what goofyjim said, which is what I was reiterating for you:

One needs to do the research on previous threads started by Silvername. I do not have the skills to post messages from other threads into this one but suffice it to say he believes one cannot be SSA and chaste and that somehow one must rid themselves completely of SSA before entering into the kingdom. This is just not the teaching of the Church, as SSA is not sinful.

But SSA is disordered according to the Church. Am I wrong in believing that we will all have to rid ourselves of every disordered passion before we can enter the kingdom? If I am correct will You accept this as part of the Church's full teaching on the subject? Or do you believe we can enter heaven clinging to our disordered inclinations?
