No, that was my wording, which was why I put it in quotation marks. I didn’t remember the archbishop’s exact words; only that he wanted it to be obvious that they are priests. (Or so the article said.)

Anyone can “try” to do something.
We are talking about the Nuncio here. The Nuncio—not some low level assistant pastor or priest somewhere, not some low level staff person–heck not even some low level diocesan bishop in some rural area no one has ever heard of or cares about. We are talking about the Nuncio. The Nuncio is the most powerful cleric in the United States. The idea that he couldn’t do something or “tried” given his position is a little difficult for me to buy.
When it was clear that McCarrick was defying the pope’s directive, what did he do about it? When it was clear that Wurl was allowing it, what did he do? He complains a lot about Walter Rossi–yet Rossi went from being an assistant at the shrine to being the rector. You mean to tell me he could do nothing to stop that if he had such a problem with Rossi? You mean to tell me he could do nothing to replace Rossi at the shrine?
Again, from where I sit, Viagno is just as guilty of the corruption. The fact that he professes the Catholic Faith and defends it–does not change anything. It seems to me that the likes of Church Militant and other conservative outlets–want to give him a pass just because he shares their ideology. How is that different from the liberal media giving liberals a pass for their hypocrisy----because they share their ideology?

It is also worth noting that while the Archdiocese is asking priests to attend this protest, masses haven’t yet resumed everywhere in area (they have in Maryland where I live but not in DC itself).
