Archbishops in Philippines accept donations from gambling organisations

Three Archbishops in the Philippines said it is not immoral to accept donations from stae-run gambling organisations? Is there a Church position on something like this?
 
The motive of the giver does not affect the utility of the gift.

… or something like that. 😉
 
It just seemed odd to me that the Church in the Philippines openly discourages people from gambling but would accept donations from a gambling organisation. Isn’t there a contradiction here?
 
What’s wrong with gambling? as long as you’re not addicted or cheating, there’s nothing immoral in it.
 
I agree with you that gambling is only considered a sin by the Church if it is excessive and its then a mortal sin. However if it is not considered immoral why would the Church be so outspoken against gambling. Surely the Church does not speak out against something that is moral??
