NewEnglandPries didn’t come out and say it, but he acts like there’s something wrong with that, otherwise, why point it out?
Because its not fair to compare Newark’s ordination numbers to other diocese in the US. When someone says “My diocese ordained 8 priests this year” it is usually assumed that they are all regular diocesan priests and came from that geographical area.
In Newark, the Neocats bring in their people from all over the world and have the Archbishop ordain them. So let’s not pretend that the archdiocese of Newark has a huge upswing in vocations when around half of them are imported from around the world by a religious group.

If you wish to belong to this group, go right ahead. But let’s not pretend their priests are run of the mill average parish priests and let’s not ignore the controversy that has followed this group (recently had their seminary closed in Japan).

Explain to me what exactly is a “run of the mill average priest?”

And by the way, the Japanese seminary you refer to is now under the protection of the Holy Father. He would not allow it to be closed.

As for controversy, find me something that was new in the history of the Church that wasn’t followed by some controversy. Our Lord Jesus Christ generated A LOT of controversy, no? I just read a biography on Theresa of Avila and controversy followed her everywhere. Yet she’s a Doctor of the Church. Hmmmm. Maybe when the Holy Spirit shakes things up a bit, some people might find it controversial. That’s fine.

As someone who is a member of the Archidiocese of Newark I find this to be wonderful news. 👍

If you want to debate the NCW then create your own thread about it. Thanks.
