Are all other worlds deprived of God?

I have been thinking lately and pondering this one question:

If God sent his one and only son to earth to die for the sins of man, what would happen to life on other planets?

I believe in this vast universe that there is probably another planet that can and has sustained intelligent life. How could they be aware of God’s presence when Jesus was sent to earth? Are all the other galaxies in the universe forsaken by God? Is it only humans here on earth that are his chosen race or did he send a son to them as well?

Has anyone else ever thought about this?

There are several possibilities:
  1. The Son of God has redeemed persons on other planets by His death even though they are unaware of the fact. Just as other religions on this earth are divinely inspired so there are probably religions on other planets which teach the basic moral and spiritual truths.
  2. It has been revealed to persons on other planets that the Son of God has redeemed them by His death on this earth.
  3. The Son of God has become incarnate and redeemed persons on other planets - by suffering and being killed in other ways.
  4. God has redeemed persons on other planets in ways that haven’t occurred to us.
I think the last possibility is the most likely. No one could have predicted or imagined that human ignorance, arrogance, malignance and intolerance in an obscure Roman province would be the means by which God reveals His infinite love for the entire human race! This is one of the most powerful reasons for believing Jesus was not a mere madman but **is **our perfect Redeemer. Evil has been miraculously transformed into the supreme blessing for mankind. It is folly to think we can anticipate divine wisdom…

  1. Maybe they don’t need Redeemer.
 
  1. Mayber we are to bring them the news and salvation of Christ.
  2. They would have had contact like in the old Testament with God or they may have been in constant contact and have never experienced original sin.
 
  1. there isn’t any other life in the universe that have souls, or, all other live in the universe is what we call “unintelligent”
 
There are no humans on other planets, so they wouldn’t benefit from the redemption. Anyway what are these “intelligent” creatures that are being proposed?
 
That’s the thing, the speculation is so far reaching no one can say. There could very well be humans on other planets, having evolved under conditions nearly identical to our own. Or perhaps earth has been chosen to be the carrier of the gospel to all corners of the universe, but this mission won’t be completed for another 30 million years.

I mean…it could be ANYTHING…or nothing. Saying “it’s hard to imagine” or “it’s probably unlikely” in these situations doesn’t really mean anything. 🙂

But the issue is **how **is He known by persons on other planets? You cannot reject what you don’t know!

Give it time people would have thought it extremely unlikely to travel around the whole world in a matter of days or to reach the moon.

And I would like to think that God didn’t give us an impossible task in the Garden. If there is other life out there I have hope that at least one would have succeeded:D

If anyone is interested, though, C.S. Lewis wrote an essay called Religion and Rocketry and Lewis’ the space trilogy is in a way devoted to this subject of how God may have interacted with other species.

  2. There isn’t any God (not meant to start a debate, but as long as you’re listing possibilities).

Our Lord is known to us, in part, via the existence of those other planets as part of all creation. All of creation is akin to the human body, as written of by Paul. Though many parts, all are one body. The totality of God’s creation may be seen as a body. And, just as our human bodies grow older, and individual cells are constantly being replaced, we still remain one body. And, so does creation.

As to “others”, well that is our imaginative flight of fancy, as such has never been revealed to man. The concept of life on other planets seems to have accelerated mainly during the 1950s, with the advent of science fiction film.

Anything is logically possible but we are concerned with reality. The laws of probability apply to the entire universe because it is subject to the same physical laws. For example, it is highly improbable that out of an immense number of conditions every condition is satisfied so perfectly that two planets are identical in every respect (except their position of course!) This is an example of how an estimate of probability can be valid even though it has no precise mathematical basis.

The principle of induction is evidence of how successful estimates can be because there is no absolute guarantee that the universe will continue to be orderly or that the future will always be understood in terms of the past. Bishop Butler said that probability is the very guide of life - and I don’t see why that should exclude life elsewhere! 🙂

Stephen Hawking is no fool and he ventured to say that intelligent life is unlikely to survive for long on any planet because of the overwhelming odds against it. It seems miraculous that it has lasted so long on this planet after having coming so close to extinction several times…
