I asked this question in another thread, but no one answered, so I think I have to give it it’s own thread.
It has been said in previous threads that all prophets are sinless (i.e. Abraham, Moses, Muhammad, etc.). I would like to know:
Thank you.
It has been said in previous threads that all prophets are sinless (i.e. Abraham, Moses, Muhammad, etc.). I would like to know:
- Is this just an Islamic belief? I know Christians don’t believe this, but are there any other religions that believe this?
- Where did this belief come from - who first put forth the idea that all prophets are sinless?
- For those that believe this: How do you reconcile in your minds this belief vs. the reality of the sins that prophets have committed that have been documented.
(For example, Abraham’s adultery with Hagar, Muhammad’s lying and murder etc.) - In Islam, is this belief necessary in order to excuse/justify the sins of Muhammad and as a result all the other prophets just get lumped into this belief?
Thank you.
