Actually the Orthodox church is the last word, the Church that was founded by none other than the word of God, “Jesus Christ " the word become flesh”. 👍

Jesus gave authority to the Church He said He would never leave. " I will be with you always, even to the end of time."

So the True Church is the last word, and the last word is “Jesus.”

***“There are not 100 people in America who hate the Orthodox religion. There are, however, millions who hate what they think the Orthodox religion is.”

Hi Hesychios,
He actually gave the keys of the kingdom of earth to Peter and his successors hesychios. 👍 The catholic church.

Must we discuss this again?😃

Watch out, Louie! You addressed the comment to Hesychios then placed his name at the end of the comment again making it sound like Peter’s successor is Hesychios! LOL Pope Hesychios IV! lol

WRONG…The Catholic church IS the true church, unfortunately for the Orthodox, they broke off in 1054 in unity with the pope, but the Catholics just kept on going. Never looking back. Don’t get me wrong, I have much respect for Orthodox, but they somehow have a problem with listening to God as commanding St. Peter to be the first pope.
This sounds like the McClaughlin Group show on PBS: “Wrong!” “Wrong!!” LOL:D Always a great way to start a post, very decisive lol…

Hhahahaha, woops!

Here’s the correction - St Peter first pope of the catholic church! 👍

Do you find something funny here? Greek Orthodox does not follow the pope.
Yes, your claim is funny! Orthodox never did and never will “follow” the Pope, not even if we become in some way reconciled to each other.

The modern papacy came a lot later, to the west only. It is in historical terms a novelty.

The Orthodox never " broke off in 1054… ". That has already been debunked as something of a myth, an urban legend, which you persist in spreading around, confusing people.

Rome must not require more from the East with respect to the doctrine of primacy than had been formulated and was lived in the first millennium. **

Rome need not ask for more.
Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger **Principles of Catholic Theology: Building Stones for a Fundamental Theology

Now that’s a pretty smart guy.

I am, as you correctly point out, a member of the Orthodox church. Not a good member, no one should follow my example.
Which one of the Eastern Orthodox churches are you a part of? If you don’t mind me asking.

I grew up as a Latin Catholic, buried both my parents in the church and I raised all of my children as Latin Catholics.

Late in life I became a Byzantine Catholic. I converted from the Byzantine Ruthenian Catholic church in 2005 to the Orthodox church through the OCA (Orthodox Church in America) which actually follows the Russian tradition because it began as the Russian mission to North America.

There are two saints associated with my parish in Chicago: Saint Tikhon of Moscow and Saint John Kochurov (our original pastor) who was the first martyr to the Bolsheviks in 1917AD.

What do you make of all the Church Councils which produced agreements between the East and the West, approved by Rome, with no disagreements from the East?
The modern papacy came a lot later, to the west only. It is in historical terms a novelty.
Can you prove this, from a historical perspective? This is a very bold claim which flies in the face of history.
The Orthodox never " broke off in 1054… ". That has already been debunked as something of a myth, an urban legend, which you persist in spreading around, confusing people.
You’ll have to prove this as well, as the schism is a matter of history, very well recorded by both the East and the West.

=Guyonthestreet;5466710]I’ve been reading about catholicism for years along with Orthodoxy and other beliefs.
I regularly attend a catholic church to pray there becuse I like the atmosphere.
I also attend an orthodoxy liturgy as I love the music.
However, there is something stopping me from taking that step over the threshold to more formally explore the catholic faith.
I don’t think I could enter the Orthodox church because of the contraception issue and the politics.
I admire the strength of the catholic church for never bowing to worldly pressure and falling in line with popular social opinion. It appears to have consistently stuck with the truth as it understands it.
***This friend is where common sense and logic shoul cause pause and serious reflection. Both JP II and Pope Benedict have explained in specific detail, what anyone upon reflection ought to be able to recogonize for themselves on the issue of “TRUTH.”

Both Popes {JP II and Benedict] have spoken out on the topic because the world has chosen for a varity of reasons to deny and teach in oposition to the FACT that on any specific issue their can at it’s base, it’s root, be only ONE, only a single TRUTH. As Benedict says “their cannot be my truth and your truth for then their would be NO TRUTH!” ***

**It is the Holy Spirit who has lead you to correctly recogonize the consistiancy of thougt and teaching, that has not changed simply because while THEE TRUTH can be denied, ignored, forgotten; IT CAN NEVER BE CHANGED. “What is true is true even if nobody believes it and what is false is false even if everyone chooses to believe it.”[Fulton Sheen]/I]

Man’s soul purpose for existance is to find thee truth,
and once found to embrace it and take ownership of it. That is is God’s expetiation in the past, present and furture for humanity. It is NOT simply the TRUTH as understood by Christ Church [His Catholic Church] [Mt. 16:18-19], it is thee TRUTH and taught by Christ, shared by Christ and protected by Christ.

John 16: “12 "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. “
However, the people put me off. However superficial that may seem, it’s true and it is a real stumbling block for me.
***I have no doubt that what you are saying is true. However it is wrong to avoid the truth as ones Salvation rides on the quest and taking ownership once found as an OBJECTIVE reality, and to permit one’s subjective opinion to detour one is less than prudent. ***
Today at work I had dealings with an Irish catholic family. Their faith was not the issue but it transpired at interview about something else that their son was causing a huge heartache to them by entering a proestant church. And the reason - he has disabilities and the protestant church has young people, an outreach programme, a music group and a drop in centre, a volunteer program and a summer activities program all run by young people. People he can identify with.
***From very personal experience with some very close friends who mimic your story, I know how sad and difficult this can be.

But these are temptations from Satan as one’s life circumstances are either caused by God, or [if what we call are “bad”] permited by God as an aid for ones personal salvation and always God’s greater glory. God will never, NEVER give someone, anyone a cross that with God’s help cannot be carried!***

***Because their remains a fact that many IPRC’s who continue to worship God first, with the effect of sadly ignoring ones neighbors, one’s faith community. It is a fact that we Could and should do both. Place God first, BUT never forget that we are “to love our neighbor as ourself.” ***
Apart from the Mass, their catholic church has nothing to offer him.
As a former youth group coordinator I know that its possible for Catholics to compete in this important area. I was once asked to share what we were doing with a large protestant church who was struggleing with “the shoe on the other foot.” But it takes involvement and commitment. You want a youth group, so start one.

***Their is nothing short of heaven itself that compare “with the Mass” wherein Chrsit Himselg [we are talking obout God Himself here] being really present in Catholic Holy Communion. If one understands this GRACE one cannot, will not choose a completely subjective option:) ***
I’m not remotely bothered by people not talking to me after mass for example, but the fact is I’ve been attending the same church for several years and not one person has ever asked me about myself - the most I ever get is a smile, nod, and then they shuffle away, their duty done for the week.
You should ecpect better and more. BUT it’s about God first. And yes we must take the next step to be more inclusive.
The Church of England church I’ve attended a few times, on my very first visit, the vicar introduced himself to me after the service, she chatted for about an hour with me, we had tea and she introduced me to others around me, and then invited me to call in and visit any time I like and call her if there was ever anything I wanted to talk about.
So friend is Divine worship FIRST about you or about God?
I can’t help but think that catholics are sometimes their own worst enemy.
We agree! 😊 😦**

If you care to be specific someone here will address them, if not me.
The modern papacy came a lot later, to the west only. It is in historical terms a novelty.
We have been all over this in the last few weeks.

You will learn a lot by reading the archives, which I invite you to do.
