**In extreme circumstances Communion Servies are acceptable in the absence of a priest on Sunday or Holy Day.

Many people have come to expect Holy Communion be offered every day. There is nothing in Catholic teachings that would say the faithful needs to receive Holy Communion everyday.

If you believe otherwise…please note the document where it states that Catholics need to receive the Holy Eucahirst EVERY DAY.**
There are documents (writings of Popes JP II and Benedict XVI) that make it clear it’s to the benefit of the faithful who are worthy to do so. These are not ex-cathedra, but are indicative of the merits. Cardinal Arinze has made similar statements.

Sorrry, in I think in this case you are wrong. The ritual we use instructs the EMHC to take Communion before he/she gives it to the rest of the congregation. I don’t think same rules apply here as at Mass.

Phemie, from what I have read, only Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion may self Communicate. The only way that EMHC could receive at the CS, would be if there were another EMHC to administer to them.

As I said, the official rite for Canada, which I participated in today, has the EMHC take Communion before giving it to the congregation.

If the minister receives communion, he says quietly:
Presider: May the body of Christ bring me to everlasting life.
He/she reverently consumes the Body of Christ.
Then he/she takes the vessel and goes to the communicants.

Sorry, I’m still not convinced. I take it that you are interpreting the phrase " If the minister receives " as giving permission or them to self communicate. You know, we must go by what the words are saying and not assume that they mean something else. To receive would involve another person, I received the Host from Father. Otherwise the directive should have said that the minister may take the Body of Christ from the Ciborium and consume it.

The original question has been answered. This thread is now closed. Thank you all.
