Here’s what I’m not understanding.

On what basis are people claiming that the Ouija has supernatural powers? If there’s no objective and verifiable evidence of such a claim, then why believe it?

Is it enough to merely claim that something is supernatural? If I invent a deck of cards tonight and tell you that they can tell the future, would you consider the cards evil? Or would you, in fact, say that they are just a huge waste of time and superstitious and I’m doing wrong by committing a fraud?
Not everything is reachable by “objective and verifiable evidence.” Science was not created to answer metaphysical questions. It has absolutely no access to the spiritual realms and was never intended to produce answers in that area. Catholics invented science to look at how God’s physical creation works, since we know God to be a rational Being, we expected His creation to be rationally comprehensible. But, rationally speaking, we also know that the spiritual (i.e. immaterial) realms can never be plummed with physical science.

As for your question about the cards being evil, no. But no one is claiming they, or the physical Ouija board, in and of themselves, are evil. We’re saying that, by using them with the intention of communicating with spirits, or of telling the future, you give power to evil forces which, despite being invisible, do indeed exist. No inanimate object is intrinsically evil; it is how we use it that makes it good or bad.

true true. but we scared each other ( we used to believe when we first used it, should have mentioned that) cause afterwards we would play tricks on each other at night. The actual using it just made us laugh and we would just asks about things that would happen, all of which proved false.

BTW my post is meant in good spirits, not to be combative but to reach the truth. I know that people (probably not you) can get offended when rigor is applied to a discussion but I see great harm in avoiding important questions.

But then on what basis do you believe something without evidence? Such a belief places us in an enormous bind: on what basis may we then disbelieve in Zeus? Seriously. That’s what this line of thinking opens us up for, accepting any and every superstition that comes along.

For my part, I will not believe that Zeus exists because there is precious little evidence to make a case for his existence. But given your line of thinking, it would seem to come down to nothing more than your own desire/willingness to accept the claim. Hey, I would like for Unicorns to exist, but I’m not going to just assume it in the absence of evidence.

We should not make scientific claims if we are not open to using the scientific method.

LOL… WHAT??? Surely you are joking.

If something is completely impervious to human reason then we cannot claim to know it, given that is the only kind of reason we possess.

Alright. So theoretically, I can use the Diet Coke can in my hand to conjure evil spirits?

I use diet coke cans all the time, the evil spirits i conjure inside can cause me to get sick if i drink too much of it.

Agree, too much caffeine is no good for the soul. Too many sleepless nights typing away at my computer. But it does help me get things done. 🙂

are demons and angels real and is it dangerous to play a quij board
👍

A Christian wouldn’t need to ask such a question, and a non-Christian’s answer doesn’t matter concerning such a question.

The intent of the board thing is its own answer.

🙂

I think that this is the wrong board to tell you which one of the Goetia is invoked with Diet Coke.

OP, ignore the doubters. These things are most definitely real. Dabbling with the Occult is very bad and very dangerous. Like the poster who mentioned the priest’s story, I know people who became clergy or missionaries after being delivered by Christ from Occultic practices (which grew out of extensive Oujia use)!

Yes:

Angels are real:

[BIBLEDRB]Matthew 13:41[/BIBLEDRB]

Devils/Demons are real:

[BIBLEDRB]Leviticus 17:7[/BIBLEDRB]

And it is dangerous to play in an spiritual board:

[BIBLEDRB] Deuteronomy 18:11 [/BIBLEDRB]

Yes and yes!

Any Christian who doesn’t believe they are real is in denial and blissfully ignorant.

There is a fierce spiritual war occurring for our souls on a daily basis. That is why we must put on the ‘Armour of God’ every day. We are being assaulted by all sorts of tempations subtly disguised as ‘normal day to day occurrences’ e.g.

Your friend says ‘Hey try this pill, it’s great for taking the edge off’ or

‘Hey have a look at this website, check out the girls on it, you can see anything you want’

‘Come on just do it, don’t be a wowser, there’s no law against it everyone’s doing it’

You know that common cartoon of the bad devil on your left shoulder egging you on and the good angel on your right ‘telling you take the road less travelled’. That is so close to the truth. In the end it is up to us to make the right choice.

Just because the law and peer group pressure says you can do it, does not mean that you should do it.

Below is a link on Ted Bundy (Serial Killer) last interview, he grew up in a strict Christian home, he tells how an introduction to pornography grew into an addiction he could not control.

Bundy takes full accountability for the murders, but made clear that his addiction to pornography ignited and fueled the crimes that otherwise would never have happened. He also insisted that, of others he met who had a similar tendency to violence, “without exception, every one of them was deeply involved in pornography.”

Let me tell you a story. When I attended Catholic School and was very young. A Sister actually sat down with me and explained God/satan exactly as so.

As time passed and I studied the mind in Psychology and as a career worked with people with issues for decades.

The added dimension of “self” also comes into the equation. So we have God speaking, satan speaking with temptation since he can’t read our minds. Then we have our own thinking. Problem with our own thinking is satan also use’s this by taking his thinking and placing a “I” in front of it. To make it look like our thinking.

I think I should take this pill to feel no knee pain. Why not? I deserve to feel better? One of satans greatest tricks is to have you believe his thinking is yours.

Often thought by thought we have to check against scripture.

Cool post bro. I hear you.

God Bless, Gary

Hi Gary,
Good post.

While we are on the subject of Satan/Devil; I had an interesting question from a friend I sit with in Sunday Mass. She said she waters her lawn in the evenings. Her neighbor, who is from India, told her not to water at night because it makes the devils come out.

My friend was rather startled by the comment, but continued to water her lawn at night. Now her neighbor will not speak to her. My friend was asking if I knew anything about the connection with watering at night and devils. She was also concerned about her neighbor cutting off communication with her. Have you heard anything about this?

Peace,
Anna
