This is better, but it has the disadvantage of not using ‘Church’ at the universal level, for the one Body of Christ that comprises various local churches. One could argue that that universal sense of Church is ontologically prior to local manifestations of church. For that reason, I prefer the term ‘Catholic Church’ when speaking of the communion of the 23 particular churches.My solution is this: don’t say “the Roman Catholic Church” but rather “the Roman Communion” (meaning all those 23 churches in full communion with Rome), and don’t shorten “Roman-Rite Catholics” to “Roman Catholics”.
