I’m not saying I believe in gay pride, I’m just asking because my city recently had one.

If all we do is supposed to be in line with the will of God, and everything ought to be done, as it were, in prayer to God, I can’t help but come to the conclusion that celebrating a perversion of God’s plan for us, is very likely to be against the will of God.

Directly and indirectly, as it might lead to the confusion of others and possibly lead them away from knowing the will of God and following it.

So I’d conclude it’s immoral, as immoral as celebrating adultery. Haven’t seen any of those festivals yet, but they can’t be too far away.

Agreed—alas.

Absolutely so.

And, inspired by Beau Ouiville who in another thread awhile back remarked that those of us against gay pride parades should protest, like I posted I was planning to in that other thread, I have now taken his advice and protested … in the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel at my parish church, by making a Holy Hour of Reparation on June 11, the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Only technically, my chapel visit was a little bit shorter than an hour, so I’ll be returning to the chapel again this month for more prayer specifically on this topic.

This is a spiritual battle.
Rosaries are helpful too.

Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) 2357 to 2359 on Chastity and Homosexuality.

Gay pride festivals are immoral.

I think the very idea of gay pride is that “gay is okay,” and that this goes beyond the Church’s view that being homosexual is not sinful, but engaging in homosexual behavior is sinful. As Buffalo remarked, celebrating homosexual activity is sinful.

Participation in a gay pride festival or parade is could reasonably be considered sinful according to Church.

Good answer.

In one sense, it’s OK for a “gay” person to accept that they are attracted to members of the opposite sex i.e. that God made them that way and that such is their cross to bear. Whether or not that qualifies as “gay pride” is debatable, but let’s assume that some gay folks might include this as part of their definition of “gay pride”.

Gay pride events, as has been posted, go way beyond that, celebrating homosexuality. That’s what makes them immoral.

It would be the equivalent of having a “depression pride” festival while significant percentages of the population we going around killing themselves

This is an area where the much talk is needed. Is being gay a choice? Is two people of the same sex, that love each other and lead a moral life wrong? Jesus law is a law of love not hate.I really think this an area that only God himself can answer.

Excellent idea.

Today we remember St. Thomas Moore. Perhaps we should ask for his prayers regarding our current crop of Henry the VIII’s.

How about a SSA chastity celebration parade?
I suppose that would be the equivalent of a “don’t kill yourself: parade for the depressed”; could lead to confusion, isn’t something really to celebrate (a disorder of the mind). Seems better simply to have a “chastity for all states of life–single, married, clerical or religious” or a parade simply for “absolute chastity for the unmarried”.

The homosexual act is a choice.

Thanks for reminding me that it’s St. Thomas More’s Feast Day.
I’ll be happy to follow your good advice.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours, part of the Prayers and Intercessions from Vespers:

Christ our strength, you have called your faithful to believe in your truth:
take pity on their weakness and give them a firm and undeviating faith.
– Listen to us, Lord, and we will praise you for ever.

Lord, direct those who rule over us:
guide them to lead us in peace.
– Listen to us, Lord, and we will praise you for ever.

I went to gay pride in Toronto. Some co-workers invited me. At first I was really nervous and afraid, but ventually I loosened up and had a lot of fun.

I met a lot of nice people. I don’t know if it’s immoral, but I kinda liked it.
