the divisions are sad and isolating the gifts and graces into separate sects is also sad.
True, but perhaps only for bigger projects (hospitals, universities, schools, etc). Otherwise, if we belong to a congregation, not sure where it would help using gifts/graces. I mean can we share the gospel more, do more good works, read the bible more, help with kids more, be in the choir more, assist with buildings, etc. if we were “bigger”, or only one “organization” ?

I have been part of a small somewhat independent church and also of a larger almost mainline church, and there is little difference in me being fed, or me helping others, or helping the causes of the kingdom.

I see the the thread topic, and in that regard division is indeed sad, if indeed folks are not truly regenerated by their gospel. Protestantism is too broad a term, especially if it only means “non Catholic”.

The Catholic Church is richer for its diversity of people across geographic and circumstance and across time. Saints, popes, bishops, consecrated religious (brothers, nuns), monastics, lay people, founders of orders, church council members, journalists, missionaries, more have added to the riches of the church across church history, The Catholic Church is richer for its geographic diversity. Catholics across the Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, North and South America bring a diversity of gifts and perspectives. Even within one local parish, there can be a diversity of gifts and outlets like religious education, Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus, more bring opportunities for local lay service.

Agreed. Protestantism is a term that’s difficult to define. Liturgies and practices vary widely. Baptist v. Presbyterian v. state-based churches (Anglican, Lutheran) v. Charismatic churches are some of the major groupings. Many doctrines are taught that are not in a creed or confession. Groups go in and out of existence or change their characteristics over time. Music and more changes with cultural trends.

“Protestantism is a term that is very difficult to define”

So is “Christianity” for the same reason since there is Baptist Christianity, Methodist Christianity, etc. My history teacher at Christendom College would not allow us to use the word “Christianity “ in any of our work because, without referring to the particular denomination, the word “Christianity “ has no meaning.
