Is that why there were the Crusades and the Inquisitions?
This is 2010.

If you have evidence that Christianity uses force in a way similar to Muslim men forcing women to wear the Burka, feel free to present it. Otherwise, concede that your argument has no substance and has failed.

The Crusades intent was to protect pilgrims from being slaughtered by Muslims protected by Catholic Secular Kings.

The Inquistions was used to (clean house) root out false priests and bishops who were teaching error and leading the flock (Church) of Jesus Christ astray.

What (Hollywood) many mistaken secular Catholic Kings and princes excercising their own laws as acting in name of the Church which was not the case. The Church does not have a law for capital punishment, in fact the Catholic Church maintains her stance against capital punishment.

This is a subject matter that gets overlooked when someone mistakenly confuses what belongs to Ceasar and what belongs to God.

Peace be with you

Now, we’re getting off the subject. There are other threads which discuss this issue. Suggest you drop this “game” your playing

Should one be ble to respond to the statement that : “Christianity does not depend on force, but on voluntary acceptance.”

The statement was “Christianity does not depend on force, but on voluntary acceptance.”
I was submitting the question as to whether or not the following activities indicate voluntary acceptance of Christianity with no force involved:
The Crusades
The Inquisition
The burning of heretics at the stake?

Mr. Brown, you are trying to dialog with the wrong people.

We are Christians living in the 21st Century. While we are not ignorant of any human mistakes made in the past, it is also true that the situations you seemed to be fixated on do not represent Christianity and have no bearing on the topic at hand.

The topic is “Are Muslims more religious than Catholics?” The answer is no. Public displays of religious ritual are no measure of piety. The question has been asked and answered and I submit we are “done here”.

If you are so obsessed with the Crusades or the Inquisition, both of which occurred 500 years ago or more, then you need to speak with a Crusader or an Inquisitor, not us.

Good luck with that.

Your statement was the following:
Christianity does not depend on force, but on voluntary acceptance…
History does not agree with you.

I have to agree with MelanieAnne here. But? from your questions you appear to be misinformed of the Truth of history. The Christianity that the Catholic Church practices and preaches is a doctrine of “Love” of God and neighbor. It would do you justice to review history and see for yourself who is exercising a Kings or prince’s Law of the land and not God’s law.

You have introduced the word “force” of religion here? Are you familiar with Islam law’s? of course you know that they have a law of capital punishment not to mention via stoning? The Jews also practiced this law of stoning. Catholicism is the only faith that exercises the capital punishment of “excommunication” by her divine right in the binding and loosing given to her by Jesus himself. Reread your history and check who it is that is really exercising the capital punishment. You will be surprised to learn that the secular authorities via King and or prince who was riding of it’s enemies for self gain at the expense of the reputation of God’s Holy Church.

If you care to really get specific? name a time and place and I will reveal the devil to you. Yet know this; that God’s Word holds true even at the test of time amen.

Peace be with you.

Your statement was the following:

History does not agree with you.
You appear to be focusing on events in the distant past. I am talking about the present. I will not emulate your example.

You were previously describing current events ~ such as Muslim women at airports praying as an example of piety and wondered if Christians were as religious.

I made the comment that Christianity does not depend on force but is voluntary.

In reply, you bring up events that occurred 500 to 1000 years ago, something that is completely extraneous to the topic at hand.

This is 2010. If you want information about the crusades or the inquisition, talk to a crusader or an inquisitor.

Your question has been answered. Public displays of religious ritual are not proof that any faith is more “religious” than another.

However, since you appear to not be interested in the facts, but appear to merely wish to argue and find fault, I will no longer read your posts nor reply to any additional post you make.

Have a nice life. CLICK.
