Which makes me wonder, about the former catholics, who for whatever reason, are now in non-catholic churches. Are they good people who don’t know any better, or do they know better?😉

For myself it was (I believe anyway) I was not properly catechized when I was young. Everything I learned about the Catholic Church I learned when I was OUTSIDE the Catholic Church. I discovered, much to my horror, that I knew next to nothing compared to what I THOUGHT I knew.
As to hypocrites. When I was a preacher I used to hear people say “I can’t go to church because I dont want to be a hypocrite.”
My answer was always, “then dont be one”. 😃

1 Timothy 2:12 forbids woman from possessing positions of authority in the church. That is why more conservative Protestant churches forbid it.

The liberal churches are so infected by egalitarianism that they, because of their revulsion against the obvious interpretation of the text, resort to such absurdities as that Paul was restricted by his culture, etc. (as if the Holy Spirit can’t speak trans-culturally!).

Please excuse my indulgent attitude, but I really see no reason why other churches could conceive that women in authority positions is acceptable given the witness of Scripture.

Just a Servant:Over the years, I have seen the many faces of the catholic church; from the benevolent, God-fearing, humble servants, to the radical, profanity-spewing, beer drinking, cheating and of course, the dreaded “cafeteria catholics!” From priest sex abuse, to alleged abuse and cruelty in the U.K, I have tried to p(name removed by moderator)oint the “real” catholic church, which is one of the reasons for being on this forum.Humility, in my opinion, is one thing that can defeat hypocrisy, because you are reminded of God’s incredible grace! I don’t hate catholics, as some of them believe, I just disagree with certain aspects of their religion!

I returned to the ‘Church of all ages’. The Church of Peter, Paul, Francis of Assisi, Bonaventure, and many others. With a billion people world-wide, the Catholic Church is truly diverse. Nominal Catholics are no surprise to me. The Church is far from perfect and not everyone is obedient to her. A few of my own nominal Catholic relatives show minimal interest in my coming back ("Oh, that’s good…HEY how about them Steelers!!!:() Liberal Catholics do more damage to the Church than any wide-eyed anti-Catholic. They create nominal ‘Catholics’ who pick and choose what the doctrines of their Church they want believe in. They have created more fundamentalists, than fundamentalists have.
I am a conservative Catholic and traditional. I believe the Bible is the Word of God and I submit myself to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The ‘real’ Catholic Church is there. Sometimes you have to be willing to look and see.

a time will come and the time is now in which those who preach against the CC will realize that what they doing is really preaching against Christ Himself.

the world is upsidown due to the depart of the CC teachings. let s us pray for the Holy Catholic Church that she may stand as always against all ungodly things that is coming against her. i am watching EWTN, father Pacwa is talking about all the things that is opposing the teachings of the Church, and how we must be joyfull at these very times and have hope that the Saints shall come to the rescue of the Church as it was in the past. Amen.

wisdomseeker: I don’t know what the “real” catholic church is! All of us Christians, and for that matter, all humans; sin, and fall short of the glory of God:D I don’t believe that any church/religion can expect perfection from their congregation/parishioners. In fact, like the song says,“Perfection is my enemy.” Because we are followers of Christ, we should strive to be more like Him, but realize that because we wear flesh, we are vulnerable to temptation, and sin! Perfection would include setting dress codes(casually dressy would be okay), that don’t impress God anyway! As a 42 year Christian, I am learning everyday that I don’t know as much as I thought I did! Philippians 1:6 reminds me that He is not dine with me yet. So, wisdomseeker, I don’t know what the “real” catholic church looks like; or for that matter, the “real” non-catholic church! We just need to keep our focus on Jesus, and He will lead us home:thumbsup:

it is not so much about our sins as much is about the True Gospel being heard. for Jesus Himself said: " I tell you what I heard from the Father." the Apostles says the same: I pass on to you what I have received from the Lord Himself."
it should be a concern to all to make sure what you received is what our Lord has pass on to the Apostles it is what we have today. how do you know? is the question.
it is the responsability of each of us to make sure we receive the True Teachings of our Lord. as you know you can either accept or reject. the teachings is out there for everyone to hear. it is all up to the individual. with so many different Gospels out there, it should concern everyone. many think it is not important to God that the Gospels have been distorted by many. but hearing the Words of Christ Himself, one can see it is vital that we believe in the True Teachings of Jesus.

Is this man a hypocrite, or just a “bad” Christian? Co-worker of mine, claims to be a devout catholic Christian, married almost thirty(30) years, two children. Goes to mass when he can, but, I found out from another co-worker that he is not only sleeping with her, but has fathered two children outside of his marriage:eek:He has not denied the affair, nor the fact that the children are indeed his. What should he do; join the approximately 25% of catholics who divorce, or stay married to his wife, and raise these two children that he has sired, with his mistress?

are you basing the Truth of our Lord with the sins of some man? how about look at the many saints of the Church? you know, those who lead their lives as an example for all to follow. are you looking for all Catholics to be without sin so you believe that the CC is the True Church? are you better than those who sins?
