Just needed to repost this… I gladly miss out…
Jesus, the Author of the Commandment to honor thy father and thy mother, was a far better child to His mother than you could ever be to yours. How do you figure you can honor Him by dishonoring the creature He loves above all others?
We honor Mary because God honored her first. “Hail Mary, full of grace”: who else in Scripture was so addressed by God?
At the Annunciation, she consented to be the gate through which the Incarnate God would enter the world, taking His flesh from her.
At the Presentation in the Temple, she offered her Son up to the horrific death of the cross. Whereas other mothers knew they were just going through a legal ritual, she knew she was really sacrificing the one Person she loved above all others, for the salvation of souls.
From the moment of Simeon’s prophecy, the Cross of the future cast its shadow over her whole life until finally, she stood at its foot and shared her Son’s sufferings. Whereas God mercifully withholds the future from us, she had to suffer the Passion, not only in its reality, but also in its anticipation. So united was she to the will of God, by which her Son died on the cross, that she never made the slightest protest against it, even though her own suffering was unimaginably cruel.
She suffered all of this because she wanted what God wants: the salvation of souls.
Why do you hate her?
