The only reason I did not quote the whole thing is because it is very long. I did indeed read it. Thank you for providing it, it helps greatly to understand your position.In the Reformed Creed (Belgic Confession)
Article 26: The Intercession of Christ
We believe that we have no access to God except through the one and only Mediator and Intercessor: Jesus Christ the Righteous (1 John 2:1).
{ - snip - }
I do not mean this in any demeaning way, but it seems like such a lonely doctrine. No friends or family in Heaven. We are isolated from our friends on Earth when we pass away. We cannot pray for our friends and family after our death. Imagine how sad it must be for a mother not to be able to pray to God for her children when she is standing in front of God. Heaven must be a very disappointing place.
But then that is the reason this doctrine does not make logical sense. All authentic Christian doctrine makes logical sense when fitted together with all other doctrines, all revealed truth, all Scripture, as well as our best understanding of human nature. If one doctrine does not seem to fit with everything else, or lack logical consistency, then we must look at it again and make certain that our understanding is correct.
However, you did not answer either of my questions. Who do you think the 24 Elders are who are presenting prayers to God? And what did you mean in that earlier post?
