I think with all of this They are not Christians,do you think of them as Christian and the name Roman Cathloic Church did not come along until 1051,I think thats the right date.may 1054

The Jehovah’s Witnesses are Christians. Not the same type of “Christian” as Catholics or Methodists or Episcopalians…but they are Christians. They seek to follow Jesus of Nazareth…they may be mistaken on many issues…but Christians none the less.

Indeed…and the rest of us don’t get a vote in that!

I just have this sneaking suspicion that come judgment day Jesus isn’t going to be too upset at those of us who think someone might be going to heaven who isn’t. After all, treating others as if they are of worth is never a bad thing.

I’ve never heard of any.
I’m a JW, and of the ones I have known who have left or been expelled, none I can think of have gone to any other religion.
Most become non-religious. Many say: “When I’m ready i will come back.”

Surely there must be some who join other faiths, but generally (from my experience) it is a one way street in from other religions.

I don’t think the word “cult” is helpful. Sociologically, there’s no reason a cult couldn’t be Christian (though by at least one definition a Christian cult would have to be in a largely non-Christian society). Theologically, “cult” is an alien term that should never have been adopted in preference to the more venerable word “heresy.”

JWs are certainly a heresy. But they are a Christian heresy.

I don’t see why. The only way that they, or their doctrine, could possibly be scary is if it’s true and you don’t join up. Do you have any worries about that?

Then they aren’t scary. They are simply good people who believe incorrect things. If believing those incorrect things is prompting them to do nasty stuff to you, then they’d be scary, but I hardly think that little old ladies standing outside the supermarket with an *AWAKE! * magazine in their hands is going to ruin anybody’s day–or even minute.

Short answer: Yes.

They believe in Christ and use the New Testament.

Christians feel the need to call some groups non Christian over some technicality. To nonchristians, however, the criteria is pretty simple. That’s because non Christians don’t have a reason for trying to be exclusive and technical.

Are you a follower of Jesus of Nazareth? Or is Jesus the central figure in your religion?

I believe they are a cult But when Parker was here he ask if they said it was Christian,he is a JW and he was acting like they act like they are not Christian

I’m saying that a person is a Christian if they identify their religious belief system as centering around the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth…and if they claim to be Christian.

If being ‘correct’ is a requirement, then none of us are Christian.

The teaching that anyone can believe anything they want and still call themselves Christian is a little silly. The proof that that doesn’t work is that Mormons call themselves Christian.
