This was a question that popped up in a class of mine.

Are there hamburgers in heaven after the end of time? (This narrows the answers down a bit).

Since we are reunited with our bodies, we are able to eat, right. Jesus ate with His Apostles after he was resurrected. And since Heaven is perfect bliss, we should be able to have a good hamburger, right?

Remember that Christ said that “man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”.

Will our resurrected bodies be capable of consumption? Sure. Will we need to eat? Not if we are perfectly united to God (as we will be).

The question remains, however, will we want to eat as a simple pleasure of life? In the beginning, mankind was perfectly united to God. In fact, the idea of God creating a “new heaven and a new earth” at the end of time is that He will restore what was lost at the Fall. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve ate from all of the trees in the garden save one. If they were sustained by Grace, they would have had no need to eat, yet they did. This suggests that God created food not only for sustenance, but as a physical way to give us joy. So I think that, yes, we will be able to enjoy good food (possibly hamburgers :D) after the resurrection.

Now, what kind of dumb question is this?

Of course there will be …

But since we are there for eternity, and no one will be in a hurry, we will only have Slow-food restaurants.

Very interesting question! 🙂
I believe that when you go to heaven you will be completely happy, because you are in the presence of God. So I don’t believe you would want hamburgers in heaven. On the other hand, if we felt that we needed a hamburger in heaven, I bet we could have one.
😛

Forget the hamburgers .What would heaven be without fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and Mom’s apple pie.

Try using this as a spiritual and philosophical exercise.

It’s not a dumb question.:nope:

I can say with 100% certainty that we will find out when we get there. Until then, if we need to know, God will tell us. And since He hasn’t, I guess we don’t need to know. 😉

This is the correct answer. God will provide us whatever we need to make us happy in heaven. If hamburgers make you happy then there will be hamburgers. I’d rather have a steak! 😃

This is all purely speculative, but since people would see infinite God Himself, as He is, I seriously doubt if we would still desire the taste or pleasure of eating a hamburger.

It’s as dumb as believing if I blow myself up in the middle of a bus killing everyone, I’ll go to Heaven and enjoy 72 virgins!

Dumb, dumb, dumb! No wonder some atheists laugh at believers!

Antonio :yup:

I don’t think it is a dumb question at all. It is difficult to grasp the idea of being so close to God, that there is no want of any material pleasures. Think of the most wonderful experiences you ever had, it could be a really good cookout on a summer evening with loves one and plenty of hamburgers. We are just trying to think what is heaven like.

If there are hamburgers in heaven, I bet I know what brand of ketchup, mustard and relish WON’T be on the table.

Tell your teacher another teacher just told you the opposite!

Let me give you an example. A mother loses her sons and husband in a terrible automovile accident. She is full of grief burying them and some dumb reporter comes to her and says, "Are you O.K., how does it feel to lose your whole family? Dumb question? You bet, if not totally idiotic and insensitive!
