It’s as dumb as believing if I blow myself up in the middle of a bus killing everyone, I’ll go to Heaven and enjoy 72 virgins!

Dumb, dumb, dumb! No wonder some atheists laugh at believers!

Antonio :yup:
I don’t think you understand the point of the question. Yes, the writer uses hamburgers because it sounds funny, but the point is whether we will need or want to eat in the afterlife. Will we need or want to eat when our glorified bodies have risen? Furthermore, will we want or be permitted to experience other physical pleasures (which in this world sometimes lead to vices because people become addicted to the momentary bliss of eating, drinking, sex, adrenaline etc, thinking it will make them happy) Probably not, because we will be in the glory of God and that will make us eternally happy, we will not feel the need for anything but God. Only God knows for sure, but it is only human to ponder what the afterlife will be like, it is just a part of yearning for God… to know Him and love Him. How many of us have wondered about our loved pets, especially as children.

Yeah, the question is intended to sound a little funny and jar us a bit, but the point the author is making is a valid one. I don’t think he/she is thinking we will have 72 hamburgers waiting for us in heaven or anything. Scripture does use words like “There are many mansions in my Father’s kingdom” There probably aren’t physical mansions in heaven like on Earth, but the point was that we will have everything we ever yearned for by being in the presence and glory of God.

I really don’t care how much atheists laugh at me, they don’t need a question like this to laugh at. There were people who laughted at, mocked and spit at Christ beaten and bloody as he carried His cross, and many people continue to do so. They just don’t realize they are doing it to Jesus when they do it to the least of His people.

Alas, as St. Buffet told us there are only Cheeseburgers in Paradise 😉
Cute, Cute and so true! I just hope if I step on a pop top there will be no pain.

By the way, the Haimatsu corp. just discovered our cells give off flourescent light. How do you think we can see our dreams unless we can project/envision light? Can that be from our soul/spirit? Sure like to know. IHS Daryl
Wow, I need to read about this! I’m so busy being a mom, I missed this discovery! Thanks

actually hamburgers will be in purgatory, cheeseburgers will be in heaven.

Hell will have Hardee’s burgers, New York City Februaries, Siamese cats, and K-Cars.
Ha ha, can we please add ticks, and mosquitos to the list? White Castles are even worse than Hardees Burgers, they can join them. Alas, Cockroachs probably serve some wonderful purpose we don’t know about yet. Why else would God make them so hardy? .

Remember that Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity, omniscient and omnipotent from all eternity. So, no, it cannot be that the camaraderie of the moment is His only motivation for eating with His disciples after His resurrection. He is aware of every nuance and implication of everything He did on down through all of history, even to this discussion.

Amen. This is totally the point of the entire thread. Many people do continue to spit and laugh at Catholics. These punishments that we occasionally get are extremely miniscule to the least suffereings of Christ.

If there are, great. If not, we won’t care because we’ll have God.

Nope, but when you’re starving you sort of hope so

----- um unless that is you’ve ever worked for Mickey d’s and then you hope not! LOL.

Peace and all good,

Dr. Colossus:
Remember that Christ said that “man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”.

Will our resurrected bodies be capable of consumption? Sure. Will we need to eat? Not if we are perfectly united to God (as we will be).

The question remains, however, will we want to eat as a simple pleasure of life? In the beginning, mankind was perfectly united to God. In fact, the idea of God creating a “new heaven and a new earth” at the end of time is that He will restore what was lost at the Fall. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve ate from all of the trees in the garden save one. If they were sustained by Grace, they would have had no need to eat, yet they did. This suggests that God created food not only for sustenance, but as a physical way to give us joy. So I think that, yes, we will be able to enjoy good food (possibly hamburgers :D) after the resurrection.
GOOD ANSWER!!! I tell my friends that in Heaven there will be contra dancing!!!

I recommend Anthony Destefano’s book A Travel Guide to Heaven. Based on your question I think you’d really enjoy it!!

In Christ,
Nancy 🙂
Hi Catholic4aReasn:

I got that book - someone suggested it … in my thread … sudden death of our 13 year old …

I started panicking reading it … and I don’t know why. Is he for real? I haven’t looked at all the references yet … but I just started panicking for some reason – of course … I know our McKayla is in heavan … I have no doubt about it … but know I must make sure we all get to heaven. She was ‘chosen’ for whatever reason … and I know that she was pure … and innocent … no doubt in my mind … but is heaven really like A Travel Guide to Heaven???

Heaven for me: Endless SUSHI BAR

Heaven for late husband: Nascar track where HE can drive it

Heaven for 13 year old son: Baseball Diamond

Heaven for 9 year old son: Go-Cart Race Track

Jesus said there are many rooms in His Fathers Mansion and since we are not sure exactly what that means, my family has decided to take a few “liberties”😃
