I’m quite content outside the Catholic faith. The Chruch is not about to change to meet my needs, nor do I expect it. Likewise, I will not change to conform to her teachings.

So, what religion to you subscribe to now? I see your Public Profile lists you as a Former Catholic.

Is it possible that you could be counted among the Catholics because you aren’t with any other church?

What about the church do you think should change (she was here first, don’t forget) and why won’t you change to conform to her teachings? Do you believe her teachings are anything less than true?

(I Invite you to discuss this matter with me privately, as this, probably, isn’t germain to this topic)

from linked article:
For instance, the data show that some of their long-held distinctives, such as being champions of social justice, are no longer a defining facet of their community

Interesting, in an earlier post I mentioned I am a simple man with stats and such, but this statement to me seems to be opinion rather then a fact.
Code:
If anything I find the opposite to be true. I volunteer at a homeless day shelter in procurement and we have many local social service groups that help and/or listed as supporters.
one group run by a local evangelical Women that issues food to
our homeless are asked to sign in and name how long homeless and if any, there faith.
She regularly gives our hispanic and catholic displaced, canned beans and a bag of gov’t mashed potatos flakes,
and advises them of the (quote) “damnation of Catholicism”
and the resulting burning in hell for RC’s, as they walk out they see canned and fresh package meat, fruit and veggies given to other’s.
I didn’t believe this until a women mentioned joining D of I
to this mission and got the speech, so I went in to see myself. I experienced that same treatment.
Code:
On the other hand, St Vincent De'Paul society come every friday and never fail to help in some way those who flood in on fridays.

I AM NOT saying this is common all over Gods green world, but that in my City, it is a fact not an opinion. GF

Correct, that would describe me religiously
Is it possible that you could be counted among the Catholics because you aren’t with any other church?
I should not be counted as I submitted an Actus Formalis letter. There should be a note by my baptisimal record that I formally left the church, but I don’t know if they did and I doubt anyone would know what to do if/when they encounter it.
What about the church do you think should change (she was here first, don’t forget) and why won’t you change to conform to her teachings? Do you believe her teachings are anything less than true?
As I previously stated, I think nothing should change. Why would I choose to conform to teachings I reject? As a matter of fact, I see much of the church’s teachings as less than true, why else would I leave?

Thank you but no. Enough has been said.

Jesus picked twelve apostles but one betrayed him. Judas did not
believe. We have many Judases yet today because of Grace our Church is all over the world. The Church is full of sinners. Some have left her but
at anytime, they can confess and come into the fold again.
I pray for those who have left the Church and I know many mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters are praying for family members and others to return Home again. Whether or not the
number of U.S.Roman Catholics is more or less than the 64 million, I don’t know but I would love it if even a fraction of that
number would act like they were!! You (Nohome) might ask why I would pray for someone to return
to the Church. It’s just that I have the certainty that the Banquet
of the Lord is for them and for you. Nohome, then you would be
“HOME”

.

While I’m nolonger Catholic, culturally, I remain one. I’m interested in baseball, but I don’t play. I’m interested in politics, but I don’t run for office. So yes, I remain interested in the politics and stories from the Church, but I am not Catholic.

I don’t know that I’d term it as ‘untrue’, but I agree wholeheartedly with your comment (just not the choice of terms)

With apologies to Bill Clinton, “it depends on what you mean by ‘Catholics’”

If you mean everyone who has been baptized Catholic; or
If you mean active practicing Catholics; or
If you mean people who call themselves Catholic but never go to Mass; or
If you mean Catholics who go to Mass on Christmas and Easter only;or
If you mean “cafeteria” Catholics who pick and choose what they believe; or …

The answer will be different for each.
