Are there secrets locked away in Vatican vaults?

I think it’s easy to see. When my kids were smaller, they would want something that I didn’t want them to have, I would tell them “No”, and they would toddle on over to it. As a parent, I knew what they were going to do, but (in some cases) let them do it and disciplined them afterwards. They had to learn the ramifications of their actions.

You can see it in their eyes…

God knows what we are going to do also, even after he says “No”. We are still free to respond in our own way. Just because he knows the outcome doesn’t mean we don’t have free will.

Back to Fatima, I still remain unconvinced. The 3rd letter relating to JP2’s assassination attempt just doesn’t fit in my mind.
As a Catholic you’re free to believe or disbelieve private revelation.

True. You are free to believe or not in approved private revelation. The unapproved stuff is another story!

I don’t know about secrets. I do know that somebody somewhere has GOT to have the document explaining why we have to use the NAB translation.

Yes. There are secrets locked away in the Vatican vaults.

And there’s also a big super computer in the bowels thereof listing the name, address, and activities of EVERY Protestant in the world

whooooOOOOOOOOOooooo!

:rotfl:

Now that we’ve had our little laugh, there are two things I’d like to point out:
  1. The Vatican wasn’t the headquarters of the Pope or Curia until AFTER the Avignon Papacy–about the 15th century, which is late. Before then, it was at the proper cathedral of St. John Lateran.
  2. “Secret archives” means something different in Latin from how it sounds in English. “Separated archives” or even “special collection” would be a better rendering. If they were that “secret” in the English sense, why are they working on making them available on DVD/s–for scholarly use?

The secret achives are afaik, no different than special collections at prominent libraries. With credentials and a specific reason, one can have access to them.

One can immediately see the problems with releasing all documentation to someone with an axe to grind. When nothing provocative turns up, they justy say, “Ok, where is the real documentation?”

The Secret Archives are quite strict.

-Publication of the indexes in whole or part is forbidden.

-You need to ask in advance to view a document (You need to be really sure the document is in there); browsing is not allowed.

Usually the time needed for a document to be viewable is 75 years. Quite a lot of the archives is now public.

Documents from 1815 or earlier-1883
Pontificates down to Gregory XVI-1924
Pius IX-1966
Leo XIII-1978
Pius X and Benedict XV-1985
Pius XI-authorized to be opened 2006 yet not yet available for public review as of now

I think that some people should be reminded that most of the documents in the “secret archives” are hundreds of years old, and wouldn’t exactly survive being roughly handled by every curious visitor and his brother fooling with them.

Sorry about the “scripted” questions, i’m a little dense at times and i need things explained to better understand. 🙂

On October 13th, 1917 the “Blessed Virgin” in answer to Lucia’s question – “Who are you and what do you want?” – said: “I am the Lady of the Rosary, and I have come down to warn the faithful to amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins. Men must not continue to offend the Lord, already so deeply offended. They must say the Rosary.”

She then expressed the wish that a chapel be built there in her honor.

Following that, the miracle occurred. As she withdrew from Lucia, she pointed to the sun. The rain ceased abruptly, the clouds parted, and the bright sun appeared for a moment. Then it grew pale like a silver disk, and began to revolve like a pinwheel throwing out shafts of light of all colors. 70,000 people witnessing this fell on their knees weeping in repentance. The movement of the sun repeated for about 10 minutes…

FYI: It would take 1.3 million earth’s to fill up the sun, and it was like a “toy” to her.

Who is this Lady? Is she really the “Mother of God”? Is she the spouse of the “Holy Spirit”?

👍

I think that one of the secrets locked away in the Vatican vaults is the car engine that does not run on gasoline.
It is all a conspiracy, and they are all in on it.
