Are those who do not receive Jesus in Holy Eucharist really Christians? Is it insanity for them to continue claiming to be Christians?

P.S. BTW Sandusky, you do realize, don’t you, that Mickey doesn’t belong to the CC? He’s Eastern Orthodox.

Actually, I know the truth, and I prefer it. :hmmm:
But if you knew the Truth, then you have been set Free by it! Free from the teachings of men whose names are the title of the denominationsā€¦šŸ˜›

If you have the truth, show the unbroken faith from Jesus to you.

Older is only better, only if older is right. :hmmm:
Alright now, there’s something I can agree with. For example, Arianism is a lot older than Calvinism, but I wouldn’t say that Arianism is better.

I don’t know. 75% of the Church agreed with Arianism at one time…

The Arianism heresy and its ā€œfinalā€ resolution is a good one for Protestants to study.
Yes, but old heresies never completely die. You can still find traces of the Arian heresy in various protestant sects.

That is why I put it in quotes.

There are some denomintations that, without knowing history, cite heretical groups as historical parents of their denomination.

If they were not deceived, then 100% of the theology of denominations born of the Reformation should agree 100%.
And 100% of the all of the ā€œold Catholic Churchesā€ should be 100% in agreement as well. 🤷

It’s in the revelation of God, the testimony, the scripture, it’s not found in tradition which discards scripture, as Jesus taught in his railings against the Pharisees.

Of course not, ā€œoldā€ does not equal ā€œtruth.ā€

Jesus commanded us to ā€œEat My Flesh and Drink My Bloodā€ multiple times in John 6 after one of the miracles He did multiplying the Loaves and Fishes to show us that it is by a miracle that He gives us is Body & Blood. Towards the end of the chapter many of Jesus’ own disciples (not the 12) left Him on this one issue.

So can anyone truly be a Christian who does not partake in Holy Eucharist - the reception of His True Body and True Blood?

Orthodox Christians and Eastern Catholic Christians begin receiving Holy Eucharist as infants immediately after Baptism and Chrismation during the Rite which includes the reception of all 3 Mysteries/Sacraments at once. It has always been, since the beginning of Christianity, those 3 Mysteries which is the initiation in to the Christian Family, the Christian Church.

I know that lots of people consider themselves Christian, but that doesn’t make them a Christian. I could consider myself a princess, act like I would think a princess should act, dress as a princess should dress, etc., but my thinking and believing I was a princess would certainly not make me a princess.

In fact if I went around claiming to be a princess I would be insane…so similarly isn’t it insanity for someone to consider themselves a Christian when they have not actually ā€œmarried the princeā€ when they have never actually been initiated into the Christian Faith by way of Holy Baptism, Chrismation and receiving Holy Eucharist?

There are only two Churches which have valid Eucharist and Mysteries/Sacraments…the same two Churches which maintain an unbroken Apostolic Succession Line back to Jesus’ 12 Apostles. Those Churches are know today as the: Orthodox and Catholic Churches.

Pick one! Become one! And see what it is really like to actually be a Christian!

God Bless everyone! Let’s be sure to respect everyone’s opinions even if we should disagree with one another. God loves us all and we are to love each other.
I think what you are suggesting here is very opinionated and can be taken in a very offensive way. I am Anglican and I believe without a shadow of a doubt that I am partaking in the body blood soul and divinity of Christ every Sunday and other days as well. To suggest that one is not Christian because of a difference in beliefs and interpretations is pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

It has been defended and explained clearly–on this thread–on countless other threads—and over 2000 years. But the wisdom of sandusky continues his efforts to refute the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Lord have mercy on you.

Christ said indicating (the bread and wine): ā€˜This is My Body,’ and ā€œThis is My Blood,ā€ in order that you might not judge what you see to be a mere figure. The offerings, by the hidden power of God Almighty, are changed into Christ’s Body and Blood, and by receiving these we come to share in the life-giving and sanctifying efficacy of Christ.

I am no longer Roman Catholic However We a s Lutherans Do believe in The real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. So to lump all protestant together is wrong. It is also Wrong to claim Who has Eternal life That is up to God and Nobody Posting to this site is God. Not a Priest an apologist or a lay person. ALso Why attack the wisdom of Sandusky. I find no wisdom in attacking others.

very well said.

This is a matter of opinion (not that everything else on here isn’t). Catholics and Orthodox would say that tradition draws from Scripture and needs Scripture to exist, as Scripture needs tradition to be made clear.

You hold that it discards Scripture because it discards your view of Scripture. You cannot show one example of a verse where it says that only Scripture is the sole rule of Faith and Morals. You cannot show where Jesus ever said that Grace alone saves us. Or faith alone. The main focus of the Protestant Reformation was to fix issues in the Church. That passed quickly and it became forcing a slanted view of Scriptures on the public. This view is based on a handfull of verses, none of which are quotes of Jesus.

Muslims hold that Paul corrupted Christianity. If he had met Protestants, he might have had a bases for that.

I do not mean to offend, and I am not attacking sandusky–I am attacking the false interpretations that sandusky uses in an attempt to denigrate the Apostolic Church. I know that Lutherans claim to partake of the Real Presence and I will not give my opinion on that.

All I can say is that Lutheranism has discarded five Mysteries (Sacraments). One of those Mysteries (Holy Orders) is closely linked to the glorious Mystery of the Holy Eucharist.

Peace be with you.
