If women’s virginity is held in special esteem, then you would say, “I do not see how it is possible for a young man or any man to take seriously why their virginity is important in any shape or form”? That’s not right. Male virginity does need to be stressed more as an essential aspect of mature and praiseworthy masculinity, while sexual looseness needs to be advertised as the immature and self-centered lack of self-possession that it is, but that doesn’t require that women get no level of recognition that men don’t get in some area or other. That doesn’t follow at all.well 57 it might help then for the Church to start emphasizing that male virginity is just as important and equal as female virginity if young men are to be encouraged that holding on to the gift given to them should be only used in the sacrament of Marriage.
leadership from the top down an it seems the Church is behind the 8 ball since at least the 21st century to try an start fixing it, society in general outside the faith seems to also only target women that their virginity is special, I can not even begin to start referencing commercials I have seen in my life growing up which showed young women explaining why " no means no " that a female has the right to say " no ".
and do not get me wrong that message did needed to be expressed, but where are the same commercials targeting young men that it is okay to at the very least wait to have sex when they are ready and mature enough to understand what the act really is …
Why do we not have at least pamphlets in our Churches expressing why young men an men should refrain from premarital sex, in fact if such a pamphlet was made, I would place it right next to the pamphlets in regards to abortion where there is a picture on the front cover of a young woman looking afraid , or a mother smiling upon her baby.
If the Church does not do more to emphasize the importance of male virginity then I do not see how it is possible for a young man or any man to take seriously why their virginity is important in any shape or form.
Yes, we must be in the 21st century, because it is the century when certain women hold themselves as having to be 2nd-class citizens in the Church because the ministerial priesthood is not open to* them*. If there is not some heap to get to the top of, and if I can’t get to the top of it, then why break a sweat to climb at all? If you can’t “value” me and what I do enough to give me the highest podium, then what is the point? Sanctity does not work that way, and we have to be careful that we do not “advertise” it as if it did.
I do not mean to put words in your mouth, as if you were saying this, but cautioning against inadvertantly teaching people to believe that they ought to covet or resent the levels of merit open to others that are not open to them. That belief is the enemy of virtue.
