religious people will be accused of hatred for their beliefs regarding homosexuality…[and] I think Catholics will be persecuted for their beliefs on homosexuality in the future.
Well, is it really unwarranted? Look at the points you made:
Homosexuality seems to have been accepted by most people as a normal, alternative lifestyle choice.
“Choice”? A person doesn’t choose to be homosexual, and that’s in the catechism, buddy.
Choosing to accept it, live with it, and pursue relationships with other men or women - that is a choice. But then again, that’s as much a “choice” as growing up and being taught to look down on black people all your life. One day you realize you’re black, and you have a choice between looking down on yourself or accepting it and being proud of it. There is a “choice” there, but it’s kind of like a choice between self-loathing and self-acceptance; or a choice between a life of loneliness or a life of companionship; a choice between a bright, tolerant worldview or a dark, sinister worldview; between mental stability or mental instability. Hating homosexuality, as you would us all do, would involve making gay people hate a part of themselves - Yes, it might *technically *be a choice to accept one’s homosexuality, but it’s a choice that most reasonable people would make if placed in that situation.
The media are continually brain-washing people to think that homosexuality is a natural occurance that is no different from heterosexuality.
Well, to be fair, homosexuality is a very natural occurrence. Homosexual behavior is reported by animal researchers in close to 1500 species. Homosexual behavior in human beings has existed for as long as we have records. To gay people, it feels totally natural. Just because it’s repulsive to you doesn’t mean it’s repulsive to most people.
Furthermore, I find it telling that you call it “brain-washing.” Have you ever considered that the media is just reflecting society’s views on homosexuality? I think it’s far more likely that reasonable people *first *decided that modern homosexuality was okay; those views spread; and now the media is reflecting them.
In America, you have The Ellen Degeneres Show, in which the host, a well-known lesbian, frequently uses her show as a platform to promote her beliefs concerning gay marriage, gay adoption, and the gay lifestyle in general.
You have a problem with Ellen? Wow. Her show is about her likes and dislikes - it’s about what she thinks is fun or interesting. And she happens to be gay when the Supreme Court of California came to the conclusion that gay marriage is a right. She got married and then included some of that in her show. Every state in the union, save Flordia, has no problem with gay adoption.
Your problem shouldn’t be with Ellen, therefore. It should be with the Supreme Court and whoever decided that gays shouldn’t be discriminated against when it comes to adoption.
The hit show Will and Grace is another example. This show glamourises the homosexual lifestyle and is designed to make people become more accepting of the gay population.
I know, right? Tolerance is so last century. Only blacks, Jews, Muslims, evangelicals, Sikhs, Catholics, hispanics - only they are allowed to have TV shows. Gays? No way. I wonder if you’ve ever even watched a season of
Will and Grace.
Then there are films like A Brokeback Mountain which tells the story of the lifelong romance between two gay men.
Have you watched this movie? I’ll comment on it if you’ve watched it, and I highly doubt that you have.
It is my belief that the media is responsible for the widespread acceptance of homosexuality.
I think it’s far more likely that it’s gay people coming out that’s responsible for the widespread acceptance of homosexuality. It’s easy to talk tough here on these forums, Dempsey, where you are safely behind a computer screen and the object of your disdain is on the television. But what about when it’s your best friend, or your husband or wife, or your child, or your boss, or your co-worker? Would you spit in thier face by telling them ‘don’t you make me change my mind about homosexuality by talking about your partner around me!’? I highly doubt it. When a parent is confronted with a gay teen, they realize that there are way worse things to be worked up over in the world; they realize that they mostly just want thier kid to be safe and happy - and if they can do and be gay, then it’s not worth losing thier relationship with thier child. I’ve seen it happen to my very conservative religious parents, and it would happen to you, eventually.
I think you’re dead wrong on the reason for homosexuality being accepted in our society, but I don’t think you’re wrong about this:
religious people will be accused of hatred for their beliefs regarding homosexuality
You’re right! It’s because it’s true. Your Holy Book calls for the execution of gay people. I mean, I could cite a bunch more evidence than that; but I think the most important point is your sacred text would have us murdered. Come on, there’s not much worse hatred than that.

EDIT: Including quote, for those who may not be aware of it:
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives. Leviticus 20:13)
