Are we in the last days?

Some Christians of all kinds claim that we are in the last days, and that the Second Coming will be sometime soon, pointing to all the prophecies that are being fulfilled. But how do we know if that’s referring to now? It could be some time in the distant future.

I’d like to hear some opinions.

I’m with Catholic90.
The only ‘end times’ we must needs be really concerned about is our own. My death could come ‘like a thief in the night’.
Each and every one of us has to be ready for the end. It does not matter at all whether it is the Second Coming or our personal death. The ultimate result is the same for us, either way.

I may even wake up dead tomorrow morning. But will I be ready???

If I had a good reason to expect even a 10% chance of seeing HIS return with my natural eyes, I’d trip the light fantastic all the way to Canada!

However, let’s face it. I had a buddy who spent Gulf War I waiting for the “rapture”. Every generation thinks they have a lock on THE DAY. And they have all been wrong.

It’s easy to say that “Oh, [insert anti-favorite sin here] is on the increase and [insert natural calamity du jour here] is also increasing; therefore this is the end!”. But such indicators have registered since our LORD’s day.

My opinion is that we should all ignore such claims.
NOBODY except God knows when the end is coming. That is why Jesus told us to always be ready.

For some, their end times came today. For others, their end will come tomorrow or the day after. For others, their end time will come in 90 years. We just don’t know when OuRS will be here. There is no point in worrying about it, because worrying will not add anything.

Exactly how I see it, glad to see I’m not alone. When you see it this way, trying to divine when the date is seem rather silly, pompous and a complete waste of time (if not just outright arrogant).

What say you about those who say we can’t “know the day or hour” the end will occur BUT cite all the recent earthquakes (here and abroad), hurricanes, wars, great apostacy, and other things happening as “signs” the end is near?

A crucial ‘end times’ prophecy was fulfilled in 1948. Israel is again a nation back in the land given to her by God. Israel is the epicenter of last days prophecies. We do not know the day or time of Jesus’ return but we are told to pay attention to the ‘seasons.’ Staying focused on what is happening to Israel is a giant clue. Yes, all generations prior to ours thought that theirs could be the generation to see His return. We, however, have even more reason to believe because the prophecy of Israel being regathered is happening right before our eyes. Also, the prophecies of the nations rising up against Israel, that too, is happening. This week a U.N. decision about dividing God’s land is about to happen. More prophecy to watch and study! Maranatha!

I’ve been on both sides of the fence on this one through out my faith journey. I don’t know when for sure. All I know is that we always need to prepare and live holy lives to His glory and honor. (keep the oil in our lamps burning)

They said that the sack of Rome at the end of the fourth century was it. They said that the Ottomon Empire’s invasion of Europe in the early 1500’s was it. They said that the US Civil War was it. They said that the 1883 Eruption of krakatoa was it. They said that the assassination of Kennedy… no Lincoln… was it. They said that the 1964 Alaska Earthquake was it. They said that Ronald Reagan was it. No wait… George Bush… No no… Obama is the Antichrist… yea, that’s it… now I remember… yea, Obama, that’s the ticket! Or is it Ron Pau? Cell phones are the mark of the beast. Putting a man on the moon was the Tower of Babel. The Islamic temple in Jerusalem is the desolating abomination. And the Biblical reference to the bodies and the eagle was clearly a reference to the US’s involvement in Viet Nam, so they say.

But I can tell you one thing is for sure… This one thing is for certain…

In listening to Christina Ghallagher or any of the mystics, it would seem very close indeed.

Its better to avoid her and all of the other unapproved alleged mystics and visionaries. Its safer to listen to the Church, and the approved events.

Not all of them are unnaproved.

(Unapproved in the sense that they are not yet approved by the Church, as I could vouch for Christina personally myself, and I can say it’s only a matter of time) but indeed, it’s right to play it safe especially given the prophecies of false Christians, untill God distinguishes the true one(s) to you.

But He did tell us to watch the" fig tree" for signs. In other words, I think that means to keep one eye on world events but the other eye (so to speak) on Jesus and our own destiny.

Quite so. If even Our Lord didn’t know, then I thinks it’s a little presumptuous of us to try and second guess the Father.
