Are We Still Praying For the Conversion of Russia?

Dear Friends,

I just have a question about the status of Fatima in terms of Catholic faith (and I ask this as a long-time Fatima promoter).

Could one be a Catholic in good standing and pay no heed to Fatima? Does Fatima belong to the deposit of faith required of every Catholic?

And finally, who decides whether the requirements delivered at Fatima by our Lady with respect to the consecration of Russia have been fulfilled?

I sometimes come across well-meaning Catholics who seem to want to be critical of popes for not fulfilling the Fatima requests.

Is that a good thing? (I’m asking, not telling).

Also of the U.S., the U.K., Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Norway, Ukraine, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, China, Japan, etc, etc, etc.

Maybe no need to pray for the conversion of Malta. But it couldn’t hurt them.

The Church is not being destroyed from within, or else the whole bit about Christianity is a pure falsehood and we should all go do something else. The Church may be damaged from within, but the destruction of the Church, from within or without was guaranteed not to happen by Our Lord.

And never in the history of the Church has there been wholesale excommunications, and they won’t start now.

If you have too much time on your hands, you might try reading a bit less and doing a bit more; start with prayer and work out from there. Instead of shouting about problems, start doing something. Abortion is a massive problem in the world; start volunteering with one of the crisis centers.

I’m sorry, but I’ll stick with what the popes & Sr. Lucia have stated. I have read all the conspiracy theories I care to.

I will continue to pray for peace in this world & as someone else has said…
It’s time for praying for the conversion of America (North & South). OH! and for the UK!

You are not a jerk. Actually, your words on Fatima have fallen not only on unsympathetic ears, but on sympathetic ears as well.

You may consider posting substantiations along with your point of view, for example the date and the name of the publication. Or if quoting from a speech or a conference, the date and the name of the speaker. Especially unpopular views require that kind of substantiation.

You are, in my opinion owed an apology. You certainly did not deserve the tone levelled at you. Simple requests for substantiation or your sources could have been requested.

All the best to you. I join you in prayer that Russia be Consecrated by name to the Immaculate Heart of Our Blessed Mother as requested by Our Lady of Fatima.
