Obviously EWTN has touched many people and introduced some amazing Catholic personalities to the world such as Fr. Mitch Pacwa.
My personal favorite show is “The Journey Home” for the same reasons as the poster above: it is so inspirational. I also love the host Marcus Grodi, he is so pastoral, gentle, encouraging, yet unobtrusive.
I also however, watch the show on You Tube. I don’t watch EWTN. They have had amazing results from such clearly modest resources. However, I also don’t think it’s appropriate that they take such a strongly right wing political line. I agree it makes it very much a channel that is giving an American (USA) right-wing flavour to the Church. Sometimes I look for a Catholic show on-line or on the Radio and instead get a right-wing rant, rather than attempting to be more expressive of the universal church. I hear that they were now owned by the Legionaires of Christ, as is Zenit and the Catholic Register. Is that still the case? I do not identify with any political party in the USA but do consider myself an orthodox believer. I would prefer a more measured and balanced look at politics from a Catholic standpoint, or none at all.
They are missing an opportunity to evangelize younger generations as I am 50 and I find their shows pretty low on production values and interest. They just have not moved into the 21st century.
I still am amazed at how God blesses Mother Angelica’s faith and strong sense of mission. They have produced some beautiful shows over the years.
