There is no reason to not begin private veneration of her already - after all, public acclamation was the way Saints were declared in the Church for over a thousand years!

And let us also not forget Pope Francis already said (unofficially) “she’s in heaven.”

I like her. When I finally got ETWN, the first face I saw was Mother Angelica and I enjoyed her no nonsense approach. I love her humour as well.
 
Have always loved Mother Angelica. I remember watching her on TV when I was a child and praying to God for a TV station that was all Catholic all the time. God answered my prayer through Mother Angelica.❤️❤️❤️

I didn’t grow up being educated by sisters but still her style was not my cup of tea either. But then I find EWTN’s conservative style not to be my cup of tea either.

I had dinner with her and a not to be named Cardinal back in the 80’s. She antagonized the Cardinal through the dinner and even called into question his faith in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist. He handled it with calm and grace. She even took a few potshots at me and wanted to know if I was a “real” or “pretend” Catholic. I was so disappointed since I had been such a great admirer of her. I could never watch her after that and still cannot. So, no, I’m not a fan. In all fairness to her, it is possible her beviour was due to illness.

Yep. She could be a real spitfire when it came to abuses of the faith. They tried to bring down EWTN after that. It didn’t work. EWTN remains true to God’s and Mother Angelica’s vision this day.

One day, Mother will be canonized a Saint. You wait and see.
 
That must have hurt. But Is it possible that she was asking you to look into your heart and make a commitment and that she didn’t want you feeling like you had to do this to please her, but took the risk of making you personally dislike her so that you would approach your soul searching without any kind of bias? Certainly she made sure that with your remembrance that you would never forget your faith and that would make it harder for you to ‘grow cold’. As for ‘potshots at the cardinal’, again, she might have known something that was putting him in danger spiritually and was kind of checking him out. He might even have known she was going to do so and that helped him and his responses might have reassured her. Everybody has different ways of interacting socially and there are sometimes layers on layers and not everybody in a given venue (like a dinner) needs to know or should know that the dinner might have several purposes beyond a plain meal/social obligation. Myself, I’d try to err toward feeling that anything that went on, with regard to all parties, was simply and solely for the spiritual benefit of all concerned and done in charity. (I know, it’s possible it’s not so, but what if it is?)

She sounds awesome! This story makes me like her even more than I did! Such a brave and courageous woman. It must have taken strength to battle the powerful heretics and dissidents for decades.
