If that not to be named Cardinal is the one I’m thinking of, she raked him over the coals on her show too. And he deserved it too. She didn’t hide her dislike of him.

She was a real thorn to liberal Catholics!
Rather than being a thorn (your word not mine), I would have thought she would have been more interested in not seeing Catholics leave the practice of the faith. Kinda reminds me of that saying you can catch more flies with honey though.

It hurt my feelings. I said or did nothing to cause her statement (which were not jokes). The Cardinal seemed strangely unsurprised by everything. I was in his car after dinner but we did not bring up what had happened.

All I can say for sure is that she seemed very irritable as soon as dinner began. I think maybe she wasn’t feeling well. But, I would not have come to dinner had I known it would be unpleasant.

I can assure you the Cardinal and I were not heretics. We were the recipient of unwarranted rude behaviour. But again, I think she was not well.

No. I think she wasn’t feeling well. It’s too bad the one chance I had to meet her was that day.

For the most part, I like her. Sometimes she can be a bit too conservative for me. Her approach isn’t very intellectual (not to sound disparaging) but is very simple. Nothing wrong with her content, but I like explanations, not just being spoon-fed.

Yes, I am. I used to watch her program with my mother, and I still have a cassette tape from the 1990s of Mother praying the rosary.

I also visit the Rhoda Wise house. Rhoda played a huge role in Mother’s story, and I pray for the canonization of both.

I had never heard of Rhoda Wise until I read the book about Mother Angelica.
A fascinating story.

Cardinal Mahony deserved exactly what Saint Mother Angelica dished out to him.

The Church needed her conservatism during the revolution. Mother Angelica stood for the Faith at a time when many within the Church were determined to destroy everything.

Cardinal Mahony will go down in Church history as a disgraced prelate who fostered heresy, caused scandal, and was a coward in the face of insensate evil.

Saint Mother Mary Angelica, on the other hand, will go down in Church history as a canonized Saint and defender of holy orthodoxy.

Whose side would you rather be on?

Bishop Sheen and Mother Angelica together on EWTN! Boy, that’d be an awesome show 😃
