Thank you! I thought that was clear by my statement.
NO. You said honouring Mary was honouring God. For me honouring Mary and honouring God is tantamount to making them equal. With God I would only use the word worship then it would be clear.

Saint_or_Not,

Spiritual writings by saints (of any source) tend to be poetic in nature.
To interpret them with the eye of a lawyer is a big mistake.

Actually, honoring Mary is honoring God, not making them equal. You misunderstand the two. We, as Catholics, honor or venerate Mary just as God and Jesus did. She is our heavenly mother and we are keeping the commandment of honoring our parents when we honor her. How can you not understand this as a Catholic? The Catholic Church teaches this. Again, I am not putting Mary equal to God. Honoring her the way Jesus honored her, does NOT put her equal to God.

The problem is, that that first sentence is dangerously ambiguous: & ambiguity in small details is a potent source of enormous confusion about what an idea expressed in sentence amounts to. 😦 A single letter can spell the difference between heresy & orthodoxy. God is not “honoured” - he is not “St. God”.

Ok, I will rephrase it. Honoring Mary is ultimately worshipping God since He honored her.🙂
