Are you experiencing a very hot summer?

My son played a baseball game on the shores of Lake Erie last night at 6:30 p.m. with a start time temp of 94 degrees and it’s expected to be that hot most of the week. We only have two seasons. Winter and road construction.
LOL! You must be in Michigan!! 😉

It is blasting hot here - yesterday the heat index was 114 at one point. 😛 Give me snow any time instead of this.

My car thermometer registered 101 here in the northeast. We are like dying here. I don’t recall it ever being this hot. Waiting for the brownouts to occur.

Uh…we live in Memphis. It’s ALWAYS hot during summer. (BTW) Summer is defined as May (if you are lucky, sometimes it starts in April) through all of September and often through most or all of October. Heat index in the hundreds and actual temps ranging from the nineties to the hundreds. Yuck! 😛

power went out in Toronto for 2 hours yesterday

Update from me… New York…

It is now 94 in the shade…

My poor doggies were dying this morning, so I had to turn on the AC for them…

Poor babies - they are nice and cool now!! 😃

My boxer is miserable in the hot weather, but still very energetic. He bounces around my house, goes outside for 5 mintues, than looks at me like, “Daddy make it cooler!”

LOL. I know exactly what you mean (except I’m a Mommy). 😛 I’m certain they think I control the weather!

My lights flickered awhile ago - I turned some stuff off until it passed. Dang, I really hope we don’t loose power, that would really be horrible. I remember the big blackout of 2003 - I really do not need a repeat of that experience!!

it has been over 95 during the day most of June into July, over 100 several times, Alex cooled us off for a day or so in the low 90s, but we hit 101 this afternoon again. Does not get below 82-85 at night. Our AC has gone out 3 times since Memorial day weekend, next time means a new compressor. We keep it set at 82 when we are home, down to 80 at bedtime, 86 when we are out. It still runs way too often. How hot is it when it is too hot to go swimming? It will be over 100 most of July during the daytime, into August. Football teams and bands practice in the early morning hours but I still cringe seeing those kids out there running around.

Oddly enough, way down here in VERY southern Alabama, it is actually kind of pleasant. We had a lovely Saturday - went to a minor league ballgame, stayed for fireworks, and enjoyed weather about 78 degrees, dry, and with a nice breeze. That is utterly bizarre for here, at this time of year. It has been rainy, off and on (not surprising, as we get more rain than Forks, Washington!) 😉

I’m certain these cooler-than-usual days will very shortly be a dim, distant memory, as we contend with near-100 temps and constant humidity (not to mention the oil spill and threat of tropical storms and hurricanes!)

Quite warm and humid here in Illinois, too. I can’t remember having as warm and humid a summer as this one is…

And lots of thunderain, too… one night a few weeks ago, we had a particularly loud and windy thunderstorm (and a small tornado not too far away) and our 6 year-old grandson woke up from the thunder and lightning.

He was crying, and whimpered to his mom:

**“Please make the thunder and lightning stop! I’m scared!” **

His mom (our D-I-L) told him:

**“Mommy can’t stop the thunder and rain; you just have to wait until it stops by itself.” **

Then our grandson replied:

** “Well, then call Grandpa!”** :o

It’s truly humbling to learn how tall we stand in the eyes of small children…

I read that complaining about the weather is a sign of lack of trustful surrender to divine providence. It makes sense to me, too. God ought to do much worse to us, considering our sins, than making it hot out. I thank him for his mercy.

Sorry about the guilt trip, I just couldn’t think of a better way to educate people on the subject. 😊

That said, it gets up to 110 (no humidity included) some days here and the AC in my car broke. Praise be to God, always and forever. 🙂

I’m in SE Wisconsin and we had a pretty mild June with a few really hot (90ish) days, but July has been hot and HUMID. Yesterday and today we’re at heat indices of 100 plus easily. I can deal with hot but hot and humid I don’t even bother with. It’s disgusting. I just go from AC’d house to AC’d car to AC’d store to AC’d office to the POOL, but only at night when it’s cooler. I’m not one of these people to wait to out on the AC either, the first day it hits 80 I have it on.

Right now it’s 76.2°F, but we’re just a little past midnight. The daytime highs have been in the low to mid 90’s which is pretty typical for this time of year. However, June was also like this so for a while we were above normal. Now we are around normal if not slightly above.

What’s more significant is that it has been pretty dry here lately. No rain so far this July and most of june was pretty dry aswell. Looking to get some rain this Friday(God willing).

Your post reminded me of a funny story my friend would tell his kids when they were little…

Little ones would be frightened of the thunder & lightning and would complain…

Their dad would say…

"listen up little ones… God is bowling in heaven with the Angels, that is why you hear the thunder… and when you see the lightning… God and the Angels got a strike… you know… they knocked all pins down… 😃

You should see their cute little faces when their father told them that all of the time…

Well, now they are in their 20’s & know better, but back then, this phrase would calm them… 😛

You praise God while the rest of us talk about how darn hot it is 👍 😃

What exactly is the education here? Someone’s opinion on complaining about the weather? I have to say I’m more than a bit annoyed by your “lesson” - there are a lot of good people on this forum who are strong in their faith and I doubt very seriously that just because they have responded to a post on an internet forum that they have a “lack of trustful surrender to divine providence”.

Talk about the weather on a weather thread. Open your own conversation somewhere else if you wish to preach about it.

Yeah, seriously! 👍
Complaining about the weather just means you’re complaining about the weather. Nobody is cursing God over it.
