Are you experiencing a very hot summer?

I read that complaining about the weather is a sign of lack of trustful surrender to divine providence. It makes sense to me, too. God ought to do much worse to us, considering our sins, than making it hot out. I thank him for his mercy.
I Seanflynn is just teasing/saying it tounge and cheek.

I’m in Maryland and it’s terrible here. I don’t have central ac, I got window acs and they work just fine and keep the electric bill down.

I prefer fall and winter to this heat.

Of course if you keep repeating the republican talking point to yourself that global warming is a myth it gets cooler! - j/k

Yes we have had one of the hottest summers in many years and it’s just now July.

We’re about four days into a heat wave – very rare here. Temps were in the high 90s yesterday. We do have four seasons here – Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Road Work. I guess this must be road work season!

This is the first hot weather we’ve had in about four years, so I guess I shouldn’t complain. I don’t have air conditioning in my house, but last night was a three-fan night – table fan, ceiling fan, and window fan (in my bedroom) – all going at once. Made it almost cool enough to be comfortable. 😛

My cat wandered into my bedroom, and stayed there all night – smart move! I hope she’s OK now – the house was 90 degrees yesterday, and will probably be the same today.

The local radio station had a listener poll yesterday – “would you rather the temperature be 25 degrees or 95 degrees”. I didn’t vote, but I didn’t even have to think about my answer – I’d take 25 degrees in a minute! 😃

I do find it much easier to warm up than to cool down, though I don’t think I’d ever want to drive in ice and snow again.

Down here, everywhere seems to be air conditioned, so I think that we might actually notice the heat less than folks in parts of the country where heat waves are more uncommon. I remember being utterly miserable in Massachusetts during the warm weather - not even a bedroom fan!

Why I outta!!!:nunchuk:
… what… what… 🤷 I thought my post would help to cool you down a bit… 😛

Well, yesterday it was 103 here in NY - today we had a slight cold spell… temps fell down to 95 degress… 😃

Exactly!! You can always bundle up and get warm, but you can only strip down so much and still remain decent for public display. 😊

I love Michigan weather because we have four very distinct seasons - it’s the 4-5 days every summer where it gets ridiculous like this that I really hate. But it’s short and then over with.

My mom lives in NC, I lived there for about 4-5 years back in the early 80’s, and I had to move because of the heat. She is about an hour and a half from the coast, and man it gets brutal hot and so humid. I remember trying to ride my bike one day and it nearly killed me. And I was an in shape 20 year old!! I just don’t do heat very well.

lolol I loved all the seasons you folks posted … we live in Quartzsite Az and the temp is in the “hundredandwarm” per my lovely husband lol thats 115 or so . It will only get hotter through july and august here , then in September it will drop back down to the "one ohs " as in 104 . what a fun thread . thanks to the starter . 😛

Me too; always have. I just can’t handle the extreme heat, I fall apart like an old car and cease to function normally. My AC bills are usually outrageous, but I consider that my one non-negotiable extravagance and I think it’s totally worth it.

Now I used to live in central Texas and let me tell you, it was hell on earth during the summers! That’s the hottest part of the summer I’m talking about-- maybe June through Sept. Actual summer (as I consider it, with consistent 100+ degree weather) in Austin lasted from April to October most years.

Now I live in northeastern Kansas and it’s still hot this summer, but not anywhere near as bad as Texas was. I should say we’re extra blessed this past week because we’ve had a rainy spell and the temp hasn’t even hit 90 all week. I’m sure it won’t last though.

Summer hasn’t hit coastal San Diego yet. This morning it was drizzling pretty heavy…enough to get the ground wet. Sun didn’t break through the clouds to 2ish. Then again, summer doesn’t start here until the tourists leave after Labor Day. 😉

Seriously, at least along the coast summer can be hit or miss. It might get hot early on, or we could have a summer like last year where the spring time morning/evening clouds lingered well into August keeping things rather mild (bad for beach goers though). Inland parts of San Diego are already getting kinda warm though.

Our “seasons” are all screwed up here. It’ll really start to get hot in mid-late August…but it’s a humid kind of heat (nothing like the midwest or south, but enough to annoy you). Fall feels searing hot because it’s so dry. A couple years ago it was still in the upper 80s/low 90s the week before Thanksgiving…I am NOT a fan of that weather at all.

If I could, I’ve leave here at the first hint of a Santa Ana (hot, bone dry weather, with warm easterly winds, ie: fire weather) and move to somewhere where there is a lot of fall color and cool crisp days. Then get the heck out of there at the first sign of snow. :lol

I have noticed here a trend…the West Coast seems to be getting a much cooler summer than the East Coast.

Quite warm and humid here in Illinois, too. I can’t remember having as warm and humid a summer as this one is…

.
Back in 1999 or so (give or take a summer) I distinctly remember going to the bars in Chicago and at midnight it was about 104 outside with humidity that made it difficult to breath. many of the bars were without power. That was the case a lot that summer (my bar hopping summer as the designated driver) with hot temps even at midnight. So, though 10 years seems forever ago to remember, I distinctly remember it being worse than it is now.

I can stand the heat, it’s the darn humidity that is unbearable. Give me southwest heat over humidity filled heat any day.

I visited Ephesus and it was 105, but it was a dry heat. It felt very different and it was bearable. When it’s 105 with humidity it’s unbearable. I agree.

Ok Serap, I take it back 😛 We were at 104 yesterday without the heat index. And it’s 100 right now.

I think it’s much easier to do gardening and outside chores in the fall and winter and spring… but that’s just me 😃

I’m already preparing for the fall and winter harvests.

I can’t wait for fall. I don’t do well in heat at all (I’ve had several cases of heatstroke when I was younger). Bring back the 60 degree days! 😃
