I recently came across a great website for learning Hebrew:
ancient-hebrew.org/

It provides pronunciation and introduces letters, then simple words, then simple phrases. I’ve only done 3 lessons, but I finally feel like I have a shot at learning Hebrew.

My question is, are you glad you spent the time learning Latin, Hebrew or Greek? Was there a particular reason, and did learning the language meet your expectations?

I’m trying to read the Summa (in English), but wonder if I should take the time to learn Latin so I can read it in its original language. I’m just wondering, since I’m having such a difficult time understanding the English translation, would “going Latin” make it easier to understand or even harder?

Finally, what are your favorite learning tools (websites, books, CDs, DVDs)?

👋 I have no regrets of learning Latin. I only regret that I was stoopid and failed to keep up with it for a number of years. :banghead: I am pleased to be recovering/keeping up with it today as an avocation.

I’ve not read the *Summa *in the original nor in translation, so I cannot give a proper opinion. I can only note that I have enjoyed other works in both Latin and English.

Yes, I am glad I learned Latin. I just wish I had kept up with it. I remember the Our Father and barely Hail Mary. But I loved that when I went to Europe with friends who took Spanish and French, I was the ONLY one who could read a stitch of anything in the churches - it was all written in Latin! For that matter, most of the information was in Latin, not just in the churches. So everyone actually looked to ME to do the translations! THAT was a long, long time ago! 😉

I am glad that I have learned Latin in the last two years and I plan on keeping it up. I think that I will check out your link, just for fun. I sounds very interesting!

I am glad to have learned what I have of Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Aramaic.

I will be back with many links for resources for learning these.
