What are you involved in at your church? Choir ministry? Perhaps Lector, or prayer line partner? What has God called you to do at your church?
I signed up to be part of the prayer line partner. I feel that God has called me to do this. I’m also planning on helping out or teaching CCD.

I teach Junior High catechism (ages 11-14) from September to Easter, I coordinate RCIA Inquiry year-round, I read at Mass every fourth Sunday and every Tuesday, I’m the secretary and contest coordinator of our Fire in the Rose committee (which is an ecumenical outreach against bullying and family violence), I help with the parish web site, and I help out with whatever’s going on at the time that needs it - I have led the Rosary, I’ve led various Bible study groups, I’ve coordinated projects for our Catholic Women’s League and also given talks on various subjects to them, and when necessary, I also chauffeur people around - usually priests who are for whatever reason without their car at that particular moment. (I chauffeured a priest all the way to Winnipeg for a Marian-Eucharistic conference - twice. He wasn’t speaking; he was just there to say Mass and hear Confessions. Even so, it was a privilege to be his driver. 🙂 )

A few years ago, I prayed before a particular mass started that God would lead me to a position within the parish of His choosing. After mass, one of the nuns who heads up our religious education dept., stopped me before I left, and asked me to be a Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. God answered my prayers quickly that day! lol

My daughter also altar serves…and absolutely loves her role. She too prayed what God wanted her to do (she is 10) and, He led her there.

I hope you enjoy whatever role God places you in.🙂

I am an EMHC. I also volunteer at an ecumenical mission meal for the poor. I belong to a Bible study group. I am just a member of the Bible study, not the group leader. I have been doing the Bible study and the mission meal for 6 years now, and I have been an EMHC for 2 1/2 years. I also am a member of my parish’s evangelization committee.

Eucharistic Adorer in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. People have advised me to join groups in the parish to meet other people, but the one ministry I’ve been called to has been the one where you’re expected to remain silent and not socialize! :o

I am involved in the music ministry by playing my flute and occasionally serving as cantor. I participate in some of the pro-life activities. From time to time we have special programs about the faith, and I enjoy attending those. I am also an adorer in our Perpetual Adoration chapel. We have a large congregation with five Masses each weekend, and I think I would have been lost in the crowd if I hadn’t become involved in these ministries. But my active involvement has made my church feel like “home” as well as my place of worship.

I am a member of young adult Legion of Mary, and a volunteer to tag along with Nursing Home minister to visit elderly. I enjoy being able to pray with the elders and to talk with them. They are like babies. 🙂

So we’re on the same boat. I’m also in the young adult Legion of Mary. But I’m a qualified lector, RCIA sponsor & youth leader. Sometimes, I also help as warden. Currently, I’m apologist-in-training. So I’m kind of a spare tyre, I’m just waiting.

Well, I really enjoy being in the Legion of Mary, because it gives me the opportunity to meet people and to share my faith (evangelisation/ re-evangelisation).

I am in the choir, and an adorer in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. I’m also a Secular Franciscan, but our fraternity is based in a nearby Franciscan parish, not my parish. 🙂

Yes. I do what I can during hours when I’m not working which is not much. I’m an EMHC and I count money every 7th Monday morning. I can’t sing. I need to get more Bible and CCC knowledge under my belt before I feel comfortable becoming and RCIA sponsor. Although, my sponsor did pretty good with limited knowledge.

I can’t sing either. I am also an EMHC. My parish has a Bible study which I belong to. I also may be joining another Bible study held at a fellow parishoner’s home. She has been doing Bible study for 20 years. I met her at an ecumenical mission meal which I have been volunteering with for the past 6 years. She is going to let me know about the next Bible study which will be held at her home. I am looking forward to it. 👍 👍

I did a lot in my Louisiana church but here in Arkansas I’ve not joined in anything. I hope to be able to get to my work in Louisiana this summer as the Archdiocese has said that our church can be worked on and opened up again. We have no date yet for our first Mass following Katrina but we are all looking forward to it. I just hate that I cannot be there to help. All I can do right now is keep up with the website.

I may have to move to Ohio to get in on some of your Bible Study resources. That’s one of my biggest thirsts right now.

Or you could move to Little Rock, Arkansas. The Bible study I have been involved in for the past 6 years is the Little Rock Scripture Study. I will let you know more about the new Bible study when I start it.

If you like Bible studies, the Diocese of Little Rock has a great one. I live in Cleveland, Ohio, but we use the Little Rock Scripture Study in my parish adult Sunday school class.

God bless you on the reopening of your parish. I will keep all of you in the South in my prayers, that everything goes well and God spares you from any more hurricanes. :crossrc: :blessyou:

I’ve been trying to get Little Rock Scripture Study at my parish, but so far I can’t get anyone to talk to me about it. I contemplating changing parishes. I never dreamed that would happen. I figured I’d be buried from my current parish.

As most of you know, I’m just now journeying into the Catholic Church.

However, in the Pentecostal Church I was involved as choir member, Sunday School teacher, and youth director (and for a 20-year old, that is pretty astonishing, as I have been told).

But all I can say is this… “Here I am Lord, send me!” Wherever God wants to put me, there my foot will go.

I definitely have an interest to teach, so it will probably be along those lines. 🙂

I previously said that I was involved in my church. The hours since this post, I have decided to leave the Church, entirely.

ah, thanks for sharing. 🙂 So far, in our diocese, there is only one Young Adult Legion of Mary. We hope our group will grow and more groups established at other parishes.
