Are you involved in your church?

I previously said that I was involved in my church. The hours since this post, I have decided to leave the Church, entirely.
Please do not leave since your parish does not have a Bible study. Perhaps another parish in your diocese has one.

I teach 7th grade CCD. I am committed for one hour Eucharist Adroation every Thursday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. I am a regular member in our small church group. Someone just put my name in for Pastoral Council, but it is up to my Pastor to decide who to choose and the nomination box are full of nomination slips. So I don’t know if I will get a chance to serve there. It is all God’s will.

I am interested to know how one can get involved in RCIA. Does one have to bring in someone interested in Catholicism in order to participate in RCIA, or can one simply join to support the group discussion?

I want to serve the Lord whatever way I can. I always want to become His useful instrument.

There is a constant need for sponsors. I, for one, would be absolutely thrilled if a parishioner with your level of involvement simply showed up to an RCIA meeting and volunteered to be a sponsor, since we always have at least one participant who needs one. 🙂

Thanks for the info, I’ll check into my Parish’s RCIA. 🙂

I am an altar server when they ask, and I also read at some masses

I participate in Bible Study and a Saints Group. I want to be able to do more though.

What is a Saints Group? I never heard of it.
Just a group of members who get togther and basically study the lives of different saints or people who are in the process of being canonized. Lots of fun. The lady that leads knows more than anyone I’ve ever met about saints. Father even comes sometimes if there is a particular saint he would like the parish to become more devoted to or a particular person who is in the process that he would like us to learn about. I missed the last meeting but I think Father came and talked about Luisa Piccarreta & the Divine Will. Before that it was St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy. Its not necessarily a devotional group, just a study group.

That sounds like a very nice group.🙂 I’m surprised that more Catholic parishes do not have this.

That sounds wonderful!!

I am very interested in learning about Luisa Piccarreta. I have started reading some of Father Ianuzzi’s writings about her work, but are there any other authors to look at as well, that you know of?

I don’t know of any. I wish I hadn’t missed that meeting:( . I’m sure that the next meeting will be concerning her too so I’ll try to get back with you on that.👍

Very active in youth group. I sing at mass with a youth choir twice a month. I also attend XLT (adoration, praise and worship music, a talk) twice a month.

Wow… sounds cool. I wish there is one here.

I am in the Guild/Christian Mothers…I am Guild
I am a Lector
I am in the Pro-Life Group
I go to bible study.

I just joined the Knights of Columbus 3-4 months ago.
It’s better than I ever expected. The camaraderie is the best. It’s great to be around like minded Catholic men. I’m from the South, surrounded by protestants. Its fun to say something catholic and not have to explain it.
The other great thing is the service that the knights provide. I never realized how much. They work so hard and care so much.

As most of you know, I’m just now journeying into the Catholic Church.

However, in the Pentecostal Church I was involved as choir member, Sunday School teacher, and youth director (and for a 20-year old, that is pretty astonishing, as I have been told).

But all I can say is this… “Here I am Lord, send me!” Wherever God wants to put me, there my foot will go.

I definitely have an interest to teach, so it will probably be along those lines. 🙂
BRIAN! Be sure you start making yourself available for RCIA as soon as possible. I am on the RCIA team at my parish and I say, with all honesty, joy and humility, that the Catholics who have come ‘Home to Rome’ have become the most valuable members of the group. I mean that - I have learned more, come to appreciate the journey to Faith more and otherwise been especially blessed by their involvement in the Holy Mother Church.
WELCOME HOME
