As you can see I am not responding to your posts. So don’t waste your time.
You may not be aware of this but I reply to posts not just to converse but to correct errors for the benefit of the lurkers.

As for not responding to me - a case of annoyance or have your ran out of rebuttals? Perhaps both 🙂

It seems you judge services on the form instead of on the content of the hearts of those present.
And since when has a service been based on the content of the heart of those present? If that were the case, there would not be any service that can be called Christian because all hearts have questionable content.

I just find it strange that a Christian would talk about other Christian’s worship services like this. Im certainly glad that I never heard such oppinions among my Catholic friends and I hope no Protestant would see this. This is no more decent than when certain fundamentalists say we re-crucify Jesus in our services and worship idols.
I personally have visited Lutheran, Eastern Orthodox, Melkite Catholic, Byzantine, Messianic, Pentecostal and Catholic services… and never in all these years have I been in any service that deserved such a label.
I went one time, one, to a questionable evangelical meeting that turned out to be preaching money instead of the Gospel and that was once. That was not a service but a socalled crusade

And yea, of course I know what has been going on in Bagdad and other places in Irak. Thank God for the Kurds, may God bless them and may the blood of the martyrs witness to the Muslims. I personally like to support Open Doors ministry, they support Christians in Irak and encourage them in the burning points and they smuggle Bibles into forbidden places in the middle east. They also help materially and like in Amnesty Intl. the members of Open Doors write letters to Christians who are in prison for their faith…
I am sure that these persecuted brothers and sisters care that Jesus is being loved and worshipped but Im also sure that its a Western luxury sign when Christians slander each others services and go into fights over details and form instead of serving Jesus and winning souls for Him.

And of course the western civilisations have a right to find forms of worship that they want, like the Africans, the Arabs etc. and if the majority of my generation find it easier to worship God through contemporary music than gregorian chant then lets have that freedom.

As for me, I feel most home with Messianic Jews who use their whole body to worship and all kinds of instruments to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, that’s my taste personally, and it doesn’t have to be yours, And I wont say that its objectively distasteful iwhatever you like, because thats not my business.
Everywhere where an authentic enthusiasm for Jesus and a personal experience of His salvation is present there is my brother and sister and their style is less important.
Ok. you obviously are completely missing my point. God bless you and yours, and have a good evening. :tiphat:

Anyway, I have a funny taste in my mouth dialoging with someone who has so clearly stated that my views and oppinions matter less than the male posters here, simply because of my gender. It saddens me, and frankly, if people think the way you do, I’d rather not know too much about it, because I might, in turn, loose respect for them.

All very good points. I was just sharing my experience with female clergy but I understand that my experience won’t always be what happens out there.

Online we are neither male nor female until we decide to voice our gender… I’d think this is the perfect place to tear down those gender walls and just converse as people. I think it would be better if people didn’t advertise their gender and just conversed. Don’t you?

Furthermore I do NOT think that female opinions matter less! And I do hope I didn’t say as much in my post. If I seemed to be saying that then I apologize, that wasn’t my intent.

As we know being a pastor/priest/clergy is NOT about sharing personal opinion but about leading and ensuring laity hear the Truth. Not my truth, or your truth but THE Truth.

And this is why I am not a member of the clergy and why I would never want to be. I am too fond of my own personal opinions. 😃

Who are you to say whats distasteful?
Thank God the Church is universal and has a richness of expression when it comes to forms of worshipping God and is not limited to your taste.
If you bothered reading what I actually said you will see that is the very point I was making, that laser shows and conffetti cannons are perfectly accceptable in Christian doctrine. Sheesh, take the massive chip off your shoulder and get out of automatic attack mode.

And that seems to be the constant error that Marlene makes.

And that should be how it is. What should be assessed would be the truth or falsity of an argument rather than going down the road of ad hominems.👍

I actually am quite offended by female clergy, especially when scripture says against it.
