“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh I live by the FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, who loved me and GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME.” Galatians 2:20
That’s a nice verse.

I never used to be scared of dying as I believe in Jesus Christ and never really did anything so bad to condemn myself to hell.

Now, for the first time I am scared of dying.

Learning that so many small things can condemn oneself to hell makes me feel it is almost impossible to avoid.

Unless I remove all information from my brain, I am surely condemned.

I never thought, after about age 10 or 11 that I would go straight to Heaven but always assumed time in purgatory. Now it seems to me that I am struggling to get there.

I am losing my way.
I am not losing my belief.

Thanks.
For me my thoughts about Jesus will help me to avoid Hell.
I want direct in Paradise,or just fora moment in Purgatory.
I must deserve Heaven,I need to be saint and more like Saints.
Paradise belong Saints.

Personally, I’m afraid of dying. I’m also afraid of heights as well. A fear of death and the self-preservation instinct is hardwired into most all of us. However, that doesn’t stop me from pursuits such as sport motorcycle riding and SCUBA diving in deep water wrecks at night. The objective is to not let your fears consume you or control your behavior.

Yes, I am scared of dying. Not the physical act, really, though I’m sure it will spook me if I am confronted with it immediately and consciously. But what comes after death, which I think is what you are getting at… yes, I am scared of that, and much more than I should be. I often have to remind myself that the Lord gave us every tool we could possibly need to stay in His grace (including the grace to use those tools). If we cooperate, even our gravest stumbles will not hinder us from the ultimate joy of His rest.

I can’t say that I am scared of dying per se, because that time is just another aspect of this life and there is nothing you can do to avoid it. I try not to be anyway. I’m probadly more scared of creepy crawling things. But the fact is we are familiar with what we have here, and the thought of going into the unknown can definitely be unsettling at times. As bad as things are here on earth, most of us all still have that great will to keep a hold of this life. What can one do? As Jesus said follow the Ten Commandments, living life knowing that in the end Jesus is our mediator, one who has experienced what you are experiencing now. Fight the good fight here on earth and pray daily for God’s help. As Father Groelshel has said many times when asked what will be his first words after he passes on: “Mercy Lord! Have mercy on me.”

P.S. I once was in a situation where I thought the end had come. When I realized I couldn’t get out of my predicament, I stopped struggling, laid back down, and a calm came over me as I waited for things to play out. At that point there was nothing I could do. Well, I’m still here, so it just turned out to be a very interesting personel experience.

You are brave ,I mining in SCUBA diving.
Our general purpose is to give thanks to God, to respect God and to serve God.
From this purpose goes another purpose.

“And I am not frightened of dying,
any time will do, I don’t mind.
Why should I be frightened of dying?
There’s no reason for it, you’ve gotta go sometime.”
-Pink Floyd

I was terribly afraid of dying, even as one who thought he was a “good” Catholic. I would mock my wife for saying she wasnt afraid of it. I had an experience of the Holy Spirit after confessing mortal sins and was freed!! I now understand what freedom in Christ is–it is freedom from the worries of this mortal temporal body. Dont get me wrong, I still struggle mightily-----but I will never lose the experience I had, I KNOW its real now.

Sometimes it is living that frightens me more.
We all have the right on our feelings, but this way of meaning helped me. My purpose on the Earth is to respect God, to serve Him and to lobby for God.
