Sorry about post #18. It originally included the reply,

'Nice anecdote about Mr. Lincoln.
Now that’s a nice proverb, isn’t it? 'Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it a leg."

Calling an invalid union valid does not make it so.’

I was rather in a hurry at the time of posting and did not know that the reply wasn’t included. Sorry for that.

Why does whenever someone wants to support gay marriage, all they really do is downplay marriage in general as being a horrible thing. Then I wonder why do gays want something that is so horrible? As a young women in high school and college all I ever was told was that marriage and children ruin your life, just a mere ten years later it seems marriage and children have become an absolute right?

This one is too funny to not respond:
  1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
At least the person who made this list recognizes that homosexual acts are not natural. But I don’t see the similarity between air-conditioning, for instance, and homosexuality. How does two people of the same sex having intimate relations improve society’s standard of living? I don’t get how this is a valid argument, "Oh yeah, well homosexuality may be unnatural, but so is air-conditioning! Yeah, air-conditioning and polyester! So, if air-conditioning and polyester are not immoral neither is homosexual behavior!

Yeah, I saw this on one of my friends myspace. Unfortunately at that time I was probably much further away from the Church than I should have been and agreed with it. Luckily I saw the flaw in my reasoning though and can now raise my hand to agree that this is stupid:cool: 😃 .

So where is the Catholic teaching against gay marriage refuted in your tract? After all, this is a Catholic board.

BTW, many of your arguments are effective against people who are opposed to gay marriage by instinct, but who cannot articulate their opposition on basic principles. But against the teachings of the Church your list is like a bag of cotton balls.

This isn’t my tract at all.
THERE YOU GO FOLKS! Obviously, we’re wrong.

This isn’t my tract at all.
Have Mercy:

It’s an example of the garbage people like us used to believe (I was “Pro-Choice” once and the argument I used was the “Forced Donation” Argument - I still shudder when I think about it.), and that He pulled us away from the garbage are proofs of His mercy and lovingkindness.

The tract might have reflected your point of view once, but, thanks to the Grace of God, it doesn’t anymore.

Don’t let people who don’t understand that get to you.

Your Brother in Christ, Michael

It wasn’t Kevin’s Tract… It was something that Kevin agreed with AT ONE TIME, but, thanks to the grace of God, he no longer agrees with it.

A strange thing happens when people come back to the Lord - We find that the garbage we had been listening to, believing and accepting no longer makes sense, and that the stuff that we had mocked turns out to be the wisdom of God.

I hope that next time you take the time to read the latest post from the guy you’re getting ready to blast - As you’ve just seen, you’ll save a lot of misunderstandings and hurt feeling. There’s a reason scripture said:

James 1:19-20 NAB

Know this, my dear brothers: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath, for the wrath of a man does not accomplish the righteousness of God.

Let’s all stand back, take a deep breath, and pray for posters that have been ate up with a major case of the dumb-a**

The phony logic of your first statement is so obvious it is see-through. Because mankind is the pinnacle of nature everything we create, whether it happens to occur by nature or we put together as natural beings is natural. Yes eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioniong are all natural because they were made by natural beings, us! Also, the desire to sin is natural, and is universal and that is the only reason anyone says they are gay. We also know from nature that as far as any expert scientists or biologists know there is no known species that has a built-in instinct to become extinct. Homosexuality refutes itself because every union is unfruitful.

Sinners love company. There is nothing that calms a sinners’ nerves more than looking around and seeing many other sinners doing the same thing. This is exactly what gay pride parades are all about. I’ve seen the gross pictures. Yes gay marriage encourages more people to be gay. Children in Massachusetts are now being told by their state-paid “teachers” that homosexuality is just another way of sexual self-expression that is equal in every way as heterosexual unions! Nothing could be further from the truth.
This is often done without notifying the parents

Yes, gay marriage has already opened the door for many weird groups that hope to gain legitimacy. It has also opened the door for trial lawyers who want to attack Christians’s freedom of religion. I have already been harassed in this manner in Massachusetts. Paul Revere warning here for every state that does not have gay marriage yet. Fight it tooth and nail because as soon as it happens the next step will be “hate crime” legislation that will destroy freedom of religion in America. Someone in the Netherlands has already married their pet! Hollywood obviously approves of such things with shows about a man with multiple wives( The Big House) and of course Hugh Hefner’s show “THe Girls Next Door.” The appearance of these shows at this particular time in history when groups are pushing for this insanity is not just a coincidence.

Point 4 ?
None of these wacky statements deserve a serious response.

Number 5
Marriage is and always will be the best environment for the raising of children. Citing a few people who don’t take the institution seriously will never take away this fact. Recent studies prove that most marriages are successful and happy unions that benefit children. the husband and wife, and all of society.

Number 6
More recent studies have shown that most cases of homosexuality are a result of dysfunctional families. The studies prove that most cases of homosexuality are closely associated with childhood trauma as a result of verbal or physical abuse or the abandonment of the child by one of the parents. The correlation of these facts are unmistakable. If people were “just born that way” it would be widely found at about the same percentage across population studies. The exact opposite is what was found. Most of the high-incidence areas of homosexuality are near urban areas with many liberal colleges.

Question 7
Are you serious? OK, let’s just say you are. Please describe for us what this one religion is and how everyone in the United States is required to belong?

Question 8
Again, you feebly try to disguise the fact that children always do better with a mother and father. It is arrogant for gay people to attempt to improve what nature has provided. There is nothing broken to fix. Yes, there are diffult marriages and abused children but the burden of proof lies with gays who say they can provide a better environment.

Point 9
Are you serious? You’re equating the coming of gay marriage
as a new social norm that will benefit society as much as cars, the service-sector, and LONGER LIFE SPANS!
I have news for you, but be careful don’t let the secret out.
Homosexuality always promotes more sickness and shorter life spans. How dare you make this analogy so cavalierly. I have had childhood friends and family members die horrible slow lingering deaths because of AIDS and you’re presenting homosexuality to society as if it is a lofty ideal to share with everyone?!

Please cite in the Bible where it says the world is flat. Even if it did you’re assuming that God shared every one of his secrets with us.
The Bible was written at a time when society was abolutely different from ours. However, citing those changes does nothing to call into question God’s wisdom. The tradtions of men have changed but God’s precepts for living are immutable.
Scientists have proven the benefits of fasting as he told us hundreds of years ago. You’d also see warnings against over-indulgence of strong drink and multiple warnings against having multiple sexual partners. All of these things are correct and yet you don’t mention them. I wonder why?

I pray that God will share his wisdom with you

I think he was just joking…oddly enough

Someone’s blog. 😦

I wish I could refute such nonsense, but I think that would be a task to great to endure, for I have not the capacity to comprehend it.
it is not his tract nor he is agreed with it.
the OP pulled this from elsewhere to show the anti-catholic prevalent cyberspace.

it is good to know so if someone use this reasonning, i will be prepared for a rebutal

All I know is I watch my female friend dress up in pretty make-up, wear beautiful clothes, jewelry and fix her long hair into a nice hairdo. And then she goes out with her female partner who shaves her head, doesn’t wear make-up, piercings or jewelry, wears jeans and timberland boots and a shirt 8 sizes too big and even makes her voice low when talking to other people.

I feel nothing but sorrow and a desire to help those with this painful problem. If someone you knew was suffering from anorexia, or bipolar, would we make fun of their delusional arguments supporting it? Anorexics claim over and over again how fat they are and how they must not eat. Do we josh about this?

These people need so much compassion and help. They are hurting themselves and the people around them. Kudos to those who have this cross to bear and see it in truth and try to be chaste.

While there is some slippery logic in the posting, I can’t help but think that some of it is accurate. College students of the same sex share apartments and pets and can be best friends. As far as I know, the Catholic Church has no problem with this. The problems only arise when sex is brought into the equation.

Also, if two people truly love each other, what is the problem with that? Love is a good thing and they should be allowed to love each other. People are not going to become homosexual if marriages are legalized because it still is taboo and they are not going to want to subject themselves to prejudice unless they feel that they have no other choice.

What is wrong with living in a world where people are free to love whom they want? And who are we to judge anyhow?

First of all, I think this thread was merely meant as joking sarcasm from the original poster. I could be wrong…but since it has clearly been taken farther in a serious direction, I guess that doesn’t matter.

To the last poster:

There is no such thing as a marriage between anyone of the same-sex, thus they cannot be legalized. To do so would to be legalizing a lie, and a gravely immoral one at that.

Being friends, and being in a marital relationships are two different things. This begins to demonstrate how homosexuality is a perverted view of sexuality that is disordered and wrong.

Finally, this is not a man made law. The Church’s view on this comes from God, the Church merely proclaims it. It is clear that acts between two people of the same sex are gravely immoral and offensive to God. That is why we cannot support “marriage” or relations between two people of the same-sex.

Anyhow, that’s all for me in this thread. These types of threads usually tend to get pretty repetative, so yeah…
