I wonder if there are other factors affecting life expectancy, such as eating more fish, less fast-food, etc., more exercise related to necessity, or more exercise due to more beautiful and nature-filled places to enjoy?
You paint a refreshing picture, a prescription for a healthier, happier, more productive population.

More fish, I wish! 😅 That’s another thread, or more. And, US has plenty of beautiful nature filled places, if only everyone in both our countries had the time & financial resources to enjoy.

People don’t choose to need medical care so capitalism is not the best tool to address it.

Is it viable to extend the Medicare system to all? When everyone is invested, the costs even out.

Well, given that there is a limited supply of tax dollars available (or if more is miraculously “made” available via unlimited borrowing, the huge debt is passed down from generation to generation), then the government promising to pay for everyone’s medical costs can’t possibly continue forever. At some point, some generation is going to be forced to “pay the piper.” Or perhaps everyone does via inflation. Or higher and higher taxes. Or cutting medical spending for those not deemed “worthy” enough to warrant it.

I definitely see flaws in both systems.

Comes down to priorities and management, and a dose of ideology and politics. Best of luck with your program.
