She is definitely an asset to Argentina’s international reputation.

Maybe it’s the language barrier, but her ‘letter’ made no sense and I don’t get why she, as the President of a country, doesn’t know how to write a letter addressed to the leader of another nation(Vatican)🤷 Seems like simple diplomacy to me…
I’m still not sure what she was trying to say to the Pope and the reporter didn’t help clarify it at all!
I guess I have to chalk it up to one big translational nightmare…::confused:shrug:

I find Kirchner’s hamhanded attempts to ingratiate herself with Pope Francis hysterical. She and the former Archbishop of Buenos Aires had a famously icy relationship and it is thought that she and her late husband were the ones fanning the Dirty War rumors. Now she has to deal with the fact that her former political rival is much more important and popular than she is. Apparently, Francis has a nearly 100% approval rating in Argentina (overall… both Catholics and non-Catholics.) If he chose to, he could end Kirchner’s political career. Kirchner has to paper over differences and pretend that she and Francis are bffs.

While this is not a terribly Christian thought I do hope that Francis has taken a bit of time to savor the delicious irony of the situation.
