I have to give a speech against embryotic stem cell research for my english class, but I barely know what I could really say for 3-5 minutes, do you know any good arguments against it? Another question, about laboratory-made embryos, what are we suppose to think or do with these human beings if they cannot fully dvelop or grow?

Check out the National Catholic Bioethics Center. I searched “embryonic stem cell” on their home page and there were a lot of results. Some ways down I saw one that talked about pro-lifers and the misinformed arguments they use, so maybe that would help you out.

Sorry I can’t be of more help–not my field of expertise!

Every human alive was an embryo at some point. Hitler experimented on former embryos.

Is it OK just because embryos cannot scream?

You cannot even buy shampoo anymore with animal testing. Too cruel.

You might want to select a more up to date topic…medical research has pretty much put an end to embryonic stem cell use after finding adult stem cells are just as viable for use.

Besides the entire life issue, it’s my understanding adult stem cells work better, that embryonic stem cells tend to cause a lot of tumors down the road.

If I understand correctly, it’s adult stem cells that have provided us with cures and treatments. Embryonic stem cells have produced nothing so far.

I’d also look at arguments dealing with abortion and IVf, as these are related.

I do not envy your position. Were I in your shoes, I would now be trembling at the thought of trying to speak rationally, experiencing the horror of this reality. Imagine your body parts parceled out.

Embryonic stem cells come from embryos. Embryos either come from abortions or in vitro fertilization (“test tube baby”). Look at the Church’s arguments against abortion and in vitro fertilization. Embryonic stem cell research requires one of those grave sins be committed. A good end can not make up for an evil action.

I thought they found adult stem cells to be more viable for research and usage than embryotic stem cells.
