“God did not make death, neither takes He delight in the destruction of the living.” — Wisdom 1:13.

The Word was made Flesh, and dwelt among us, to save us. God created both the spiritual and the material. Therefore the material is not to be despised, but to be used to honor God.
Who did create death then? You say God created both the Spiritual and Material, which says to me ‘both life and Death’. I agree with your idea that Matter and Spirit are both God’s creation (the Durimurgos at least, the Elohim, the Logos creates through His thoughts, and the differentiation of the building, chemical elements comes later) – but we do remember that Jesus came to Earth to separate spirit and matter. The entire scene of Jesus throiwng the money-changers out of the Temple is an act of alchemical seapratio. And the early Christian history was charged with the desire/need to separate the Spirit from Matter. Why was this so? Perhaps because Matter had become so powrful during the Roman Empire (the Worship of the God of Body, oney, physicality, which one could argue is similarly true today in the American Empire) that Jesus turned his back on Life, Materialism, Empire, Religious Empire.

When I argue that we are heading into another historical Dark Age in America, similar to what happened when Rome died from guilt over having murdered Jesus, I am arguing that we will have a similar period of separation of spirit and matter. An age of retreat, withdrawal, monasticism, and learning.

The Dark Age has a small light on inside, the Moon, which nourishes the Soul.
The Light Age (Day) has a small darkness on the Inside; and a huge light, the Sun, that nourishes both the Spirit and the Body. The Moon is Noah’s Ark. When the Ark appears we know what is happening. It’s about time for the world to get out the sackcloth. We have been too comfortable for too long, justifying materialism by claiming we are using it to honor God. Read the Prophets. When the Prophets appear in the historical setting, the world is ending at the materialists are about ready to be thrown out of heaven.

Who did create death then?
No one. Death is not a substance.

Matter is a substance. Matter is not death. Living beings are composed of matter.

In whose world is it “so?”

There was indeed the early heresy of Gnosticism, that had some of the elements to which you are alluding. It was condemned as heresy, by Saint Paul no less.

Materialism per se is the worship of matter or the worship of money and material gain. That is indeed error, but the contrary error is to treat matter as evil. The reality is that everything God created is good, but it is wrong to worship the creature.

:twocents: (keeping it brief without citing sources)

We exist as a wholeness, a unity of spirit and soul.
In a way, we can be said to be all incarnations of Adam, each of us individual and irreplaceable expressions of human nature in a fallen state.

We exist as finite beings, centred in eternity, which it intersects time right here, right now.

With His word, God brings everything into being.
As part of the universe created by God, we do not exist as expressions of a property of the universe; rather we are persons, conceived as part of it, in His image.
We are more than our psychology and the biochemical processes that correlate to them; at our depths, it is our individual soul, created by God, our soul who exists beyond physical death, that is our truest reality.
The memory of who we are is expressed in this world as a cognitive phenomenon, linked to brain activity, but it is not limited to this world.

The above quote suggests that we are expressions of a universe ignorant of its true nature, repeatedly returning until it reaches that realization; Eastern religions indicate that what is realized is the dependent, illusory (i.e. not God) nature of the self, as it is surrendered to the one true supreme Identity. Reincarnation would then be as much an illusion as the individual self: conditions of desirous ignorance existing within the universe creating a chain of illusory selves. Nothing is being reincarnated.

As an aside, Vishnu is not referred to as one’s Father and the Buddha-nature is not personal. These do not describe God as revealed in scripture and the teachings of the Church, which also do not teach reincarnation.
That was one of the possible conclusions that I made. I said that, either there is a god or human consciousness is the culminating expression of the universe and its yearning for self consciousness. Pure materialism doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Those carrying the biggest stick get to decide what is heresy and what is not. The gnostic heresy was believing in Jesus more than in St. Paul, who, himself, was the heretic, but one armed with the biggest stick.

The Holy Catholic Church has always honored the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. It is one of the defining features of Catholicism.

You cannot be a Catholic and hold Saint Paul as a heretic. So you, sir, need to make up your mind. Either accept that Saint Paul is orthodox, or stop calling yourself a Catholic.

Yes, because the body and the rest of matter are all evil. That evil God of the old testament insisted on creating evil bodies and imprisoning us in them. Those gnostics were just so intelligent and had it together. Maybe, like the manicheans we should all aspire to suicide, because after all, the body is evil.

Let God judge me, Sir. Not you. I am a Catholic who believes the church took the wrong path, the path to empire – the very path Jesus refused to take when th Devil offered him power and pleasure and ‘the world’ if only Jesus would join him. The Church offended Jesus when it took the path of empire, wealth, power…and so the church needs to reform.

Saint Paul was the driving force of this urge to empire. His writings are often more Roman thatn Christian (in the real, early sense). When the Church decided it needed to kill heretics and forget Jesus’ injunction to love one’s neighbor, to forgive, to accept, it took the path of empire.

You’re no different that the Church Fathers who decided they would only allow certain ideas and all other ideas should be killed out. Fascism. You want to decide if I’m a Catholic; but I decide if I’m a Catholic or not. You seem like the kind of man who is ready to crucify those who don’t fit in with your dogma.

No, Death is not a substance, unless you count ideas as being a substance. I do, in fact, count ideas as a substance. You seem to suggest the only things that are created are material objects, material things. But a poem is not a substance, in the traditional sense; the song is not a substance, in the tradiitonal sense; but both are created.

Many physicists, including Einstein and others, suggest their belief that the universe is composed of mental matter. Clearly astrologers believe this, as do numerologists; Plato believed this; so did Pythagoras; even Socrates and Aristotle. If the universe is composed of mental matter, then it is no stretch to say the idea of life as we know it is composed of two gates, one gate into Life, and a second fate out of Life, into Death.

God’s thoughts are the geometry of Matter. Matter is the lowest echo of these thoughts, the densest (and most empty) manifestations of God’s thought. Creation emanates outward from the Thought, the Pure Thought (Plato’s Ideals) into, eventually, substance, which you seem to elevate as the be all and end all of existence, rather than the shadow, as I see it.

Modern science tends to scoff at Plato and at these metaphysical ideas because science can only measure the reality of matter, the outside world, the lowest manifestation of God’s thought. Physics is tryiing to change this. Physics is discovering more and more about the subatomic world, which is getting them closer to contacting God’s thoughts.

Who created Death, the idea of Death, if not God. Death becomes manifest on the physical plane as humans planting bombs without, or cancers planting bombs within, but the Idea of Death seems to be God’s creation.

In an esoteric sense, anti-matter is the death of matter, both being created at the same time, and then traveling in opposite directions, into separate dimensions, until the anti-particle, Death, appears and collides with matter, destroying it. I have a theory about how antimatter and matter seem to destroy each other but actually trade subtle bodies and places in the world, matter becoming antimatter, antimatter becoming matter, but each rotating in opposite directions of the primaries. But I won’t go into that now.

As Jesus came to Earth to reform Judaism, the New Christ will return to reform Christianity (and Islam, in fact) – and I think most Christians and Catholics will not like what the New Christ has to say about them. Their knee-jerk reaction will be to defend themselves, and kill the New Ideas. Catholics need to go back to the origin of their religion to get a sense of what was essential to Jesus’ teaching. All the armor the church put on over two thousand years may not be what Jesus’ teaching was all about.

The judgment with which you judge shall be meted back to you. I, for my part, hope to be corrected if I deviate one iota from the Truth taught by God’s Catholic Church. If the Holy Spirit cannot err, being very God, then how can the Church err in teaching the Truth, seeing that the Gift of Infallibility was promised to all who would follow Peter?

So, I reiterate: Pauline Doctrine is Catholic Doctrine, and all Catholics hold Saint Paul’s writings to be the Word of God. If you do not agree, you simply are not Catholic, despite what you may claim about yourself. I will not apologize for telling you the truth, and I certainly mean no offense, but the truth is what it is. I didn’t invent it, and very much to the point, neither did you. I seek to conform myself to it and so should you. The Truth is in every word of Saint Paul’s that we have today.

You are out of your tree if you think I am going to crucify you for not believing the truth. Your rejection of the truth carries its own punishment. I have no need to wish you any harm at all and indeed I do not. So since I would be harming you by not informing you of the Truth, I cannot do it. I mean no disrespect, and I hope you perceive this, but if you do not, that is also not my affair. I have fulfilled my duty toward you in Charity, to tell you the Truth.

Peace!

A genuine question here:

St Paul was not speaking ex-Cathedra.

Is everything he ever wrote then infallible, and any disagreement with anything he says heresy? I know of no binding reason to assume so.

Does the Catholic Church itself not warn against *sola scriptura *interpretations?

Is God a living God? And if He is, then is He not moving and inspiring people today as He did 2,000 years ago? Are we to sanctify all inspiration from 2,000 years ago and impeach all other inspiration, Hindu inspiration, Buddhist inspiration, Judaic inspiration, even Islamic inspiration, because it may, in some manner, conflict with Catholic or Pauline inspiration.

LUKE 12:27
Jesus said: "“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”

Apostle Paul, in 2 Thessalonians 3:
“For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”

Which is the inspired revelation? Paul’s view was practical and capitalistic. Jesus’ view was crowned with the ideas of generosity and sharing. These are polar opposite world-views. Jesus was against the idea of a Church, religion, becoming an empire.

Are you preaching a different Christ?

Please read Galatians 1:8.

What are you signifying with your phrase, “the New Christ?”

We do not have any other writings of Saint Paul apart from those that are part of Scripture. That is why I said that everything we have of Paul, is God’s Word.

Now, Saint Paul was not a Pope, hence, Saint Paul cannot speak “from the chair of Peter” (ex cathedra) because Saint Paul is not Saint Peter, Saint Peter is Saint Peter. Saint Peter for his part, however, directly implies (2 Peter 3:16) that Saint Paul’s writings are Scripture. That is the best you are going to get from a Pope declaring that to deny any of Paul’s doctrine amounts to heresy. To deny Scripture is heresy. Catholic Doctrine is that God’s Holy Scripture was written by the Holy Spirit, and the human authors were used as instruments of the Holy Spirit; and the Holy Spirit can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Sola Scriptura is also a heresy, but that does not mean that Scripture can err.

First, there is no contradiction between the two Scriptures you quoted. Second, there is no contradiction between any of Saint Paul’s words and any of Jesus’ words. Finally, we are to reject as false every teaching from anywhere that contradicts the revealed Truth.

You are dangerously deceived. Demons are in fact far more subtle and far more intelligent than any human being, and Satan does in fact disguise himself as an angel of light, to deceive even the very elect, were it possible. The only thing preventing it is the Church. I myself would be just as deceived as you are, except that I adhere to Church teaching, and thus am I set free (the truth shall make you free). You, on the other hand, feel that you have the right to improvise. What that means for you is that powerful spirits, who seem to you like angels or your own thoughts, are preventing you from accepting the simplicity of the truth. They are even making it seem to you that my words to you right now are not true. But they are, and I am soliciting you in all charity, to find your way back to God’s Church.

But I fear my warnings are falling on deaf ears, because they not only deceive, they also take advantage of your subtle sins of pride.

I recommend you pray the Rosary.

Are you preaching a different Christ?

Please read Galatians 1:8.

What are you signifying with your phrase, “the New Christ?”
I’m preaching the Christ who is coming, and who is already here.

Galatians 1:8

New International Version (NIV)

8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!

Of course, this is what the (corrupt) orthodox Jews accused Jesus of, preaching a gospel other than the one approved by their church.

The New Christ I speak of will, indeed, preach a new gospel that the unreformed Christian churches will find unacceptable also. He will speak of love and forgivenss of sinners. And many Christians will want homsexuals, sinners, prostitutes executed. Jesus lived with the sinners and the prostitues, because the leading officers of the Judaic Religious Establishment were tyrants resisting change, defending their prerogative, and their imagined doctrinal righteousness.

An angel came to me in 1978 when I was writing one of my books, he took me to a version of Mount Sinai and delivered to me a new set of Ten Commandments, not to overthow the old religion, but to supplement it. The Book is titled:

CONVERSATIONS ON A DYING AGE
The American Book of the Dead

The book follows Jacob Heimkreiter, an American banker into the Underworld, where he meets demons and angels. Eventually he finds his way to the Mount of the Law. Here is a excerpt:

Jacob awakens to the sounds of the currents. Ripples roll over dark stones. It is the White Spring. Jacob is in Eden.
Jacob drinks from the stream. The force of life fills his sinews, his fibers. An apple rots on the far shore. He has been here before…
Jacob crosses the Whtie Spring – although he stops at its mid-point. He bends down and bathes his warm face in the waves. He pours the flow down his forehead…
Ahhh!
He feels the strength coming back to him.
He feels a new man who stands in the very pulse of this garden.

There is a man who sits silent beaneath a tree fully-flowered. It is Lao-tze – beneath a Tree of Life. This man says: THE HIGHEST GOOD IS LIKE WATER. WATER GIVES LIFE TO THE TEN THOUSAND THINGS – AND WATER DOES NOT STRIVE. IT FLOWS IN THE PLACES WHICH MEN REJECT – AND, SO, IT IS LIKE GOD. IN DWELLING, BE CLOSE TO THE LAND. IN MEDITATION, GO DEEP IN THE HEART. IN DEALING WITH OTHERS, BE GENTLE AND KIND. IN SPEECH, BE TRUE. IN RULING, BE JUST. IN BUSINESS, BE COMPETENT. IN ACTION, WATCH THE TIMING. NO FIGHT; NO BLAME…!
AND HOW DO I ESCAPE THE GREAT WHEEL OF CHANGE? Jacob asks.
Lao-tze replies: BETWEEN BIRTH AND DEATH, THREE IN TEN ARE FOLLOWERS OF LIFE, THREE IN TEN ARE FOLLOWERS OF DEATH; AND MEN JUST PASSING FROM BIRTH TO DEATH ALSO NUMBER THREE IN TEN. WHY IS THIS SO? BECAUSE THEY LIVE THEIR LIVES ON THE GROSS LEVEL. HE WHO KNOWS HOW TO LIVE CAN WALK ABROAD WITHOUT FEAR OF RHINOCEROS OR TIGER. HE WILL NOT BE WOUNDED IN BATTLE. FOR IN HIM RHINOCEROSES CAN FIND NO PLACE TO THRUST THEIR HORN; TIGERS NO PLACE TO USE THEIR CLAWS; AND WEAPONS NO PLACE TO PIERCE. WHY IS THIS SO? BECAUSE HE HAS NO PLACE FOR DEATH TO ENTER.
AND HOW DO I BECOME THIS ONE MAN IN TEN? Jacob asks.
EMPTY YOURSELF OF EVERYTHING! Lao-tze replies LET THE MIND REST AT PEACE. THE TEN THOUSAND THINGS RISE AND FALL, WHILE THE SELF WATCHES THEIR RETURN. THEY GROW AND FLOURISH – AND THEN RETURN TO THEIR SOURCE. RETURING TO THE SOURCE IS STILLNESS, WHICH IS THE WAY OF NATURE. THE WAY OF NATURE IS UNCHANGING; KNOWING CONSTANCY IS INSIGHT. NOT KNOWING CONSTANCY LEADS TO DISASTER. KNOWING CONSTANCY, THE MIND IS OPEN. WITH AN OPEN MIND, YOU WILL BE OPEN-HEARTED. BEING OPEN-HEARTED, YOU WILL ACT ROYALLY. BEING ROYAL, YOU WILL ATTAIN THE DIVINE. BEING DIVINE, YOU WILL BE AT ONE WITH GOD. BEING AT ONE WITH GOD IS ETERNAL. AND THOUGH THE BODY DIES, GOD WILL NEVER PASS AWAY.
AND WHAT OF FAME? Jacob asks.
FAME OR SELF, WHICH MATTERS MORE? Lao-tze asks. SELF OR WEALTH, WHICH IS MORE PRECIOUS? GAIN OR LOSS, WHICH IS MORE PAINFUL? HE WHO IS ATTACHED TO THINGS WILL SUFFER MUCH. HE WHO SAVES WILL SUFFER HEAVY LOSS. A CONTENTED MAN IS NEVER DISAPPOINTED. HE WHO KNOW WHEN TO STOP DOES NOT FIND HIMSELF IN TROUBLE. HE WILL STAY FOR EVER SAFE.
AND WHAT OF WOMAN? Jacob asks.
Lao-tze responds: THE VALLEY SPIRIT NEVER DIES. IT IS THE WOMAN, PRIMAL MOTHER. HER GATEWAY IS THE ROOT OF HEAVEN AND EARTH. IT IS LIKE A VEIL BARELY SEEN. USE IT – IT WILL NEVER FAIL.
AND WHAT OF VIRTUE? Jacob asks.
HE WHO IS FILLED WITH VIRTUE IS LIKE A NEWBORN CHILD. Loa-tze responds. WASPS AND SERPENTS WILL NOT STING HIM. WILD BEASTS WILL NOT POUNCE UPON HIM. HE WILL NOT BE ATTACKED BY BIRDS OF PREY. HIS BONES ARE SOFT; HIS MUSCLES WEAK. BUT HIS GRIP IS FIRM. HE HAS NOT EXPERIENCED THE UNION OF MAN AND WOMAN – BUT HE IS WHOLE. HIS MANHOOD IS STRONG. HE SCREAMS ALL DAY WITHOUT BECOMING HOARSE. THIS IS PERFECT HARMONY. KNOWING HARMONY IS CONSTANCY; KNOWING CONSTANCY IS ENLIGHTENMENT. IT IS NOT WISE TO RUSH ABOUT. CONTROLLING THE BREATH CAUSES TOO MUCH STRAIN. IF TOO MUCH ENERGY IS USED, ENNERVATION FOLLOWS.

PART II.

AND WHAT OF THE WORLD? Jacob asks.
Lao-tze responds: IF I HAVE EVEN JUST A LITTLE SENSE, I WILL WALK ON THE MAIN ROAD — AND MY ONLY FEAR WILL BE OF STRAYING FROM IT. KEEPING TO THE MAIN ROAD IS EASY. BUT PEOPLE LOVE TO BE SIDETRACKED. WHEN THE COURT IS ARRAYED IN SPLENDOR, THE FIELDS ARE FULL OF WEEKS; AND THE GRANARIES ARE BARE. SOME WEAR GORGEOUS CLOTHES; CARRY SHARP SWORDS; AND INDULGE THEMSELVES WITH FOOD AND DRINK. THEY HAVE MORE POSSESSIONS THAT THEY CAN USE. THEY ARE ROBBER BARONS. THIS IS CERTAINLY NOT THE WAY OF GOD.
AND WHAT IS THE WAY OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Jacob asks.
PRACTICE NON-ACTION, Lao-tse responds. WORK WITHOUT DOING. TASTE THE TASTELESSNESS. MAGNIFY THE SMALL; INCREASE THE FEW. REWARD BITTERNESS WITH CARE. SEE SIMPLICTY IN THE COMPLICATED. ACHIEVE GREATNESS IN LITTLE THINGS. IN THE UNIVERSE, GREAT ACTS ARE MADE UP OF SMALL DEEDS. THE SAGE DOES NOT ATTEND ANYTHING VERY BIG – AND, THUS, ACHIEVES GREATNESS. EASY PROMISESE MAKE FOR LITTLE TRUST. TAKING THINGS LIGHTLY RESULTS IN GREAT DIFFICULTY. BECAUSE THE SAGE ALWAYS CONFRONTS DIFFICULTIES, HE NEVER EXPERIENCES THEM…
I’M NOT SURE I UNDERSTAND ALL THIS, Jacob admits.
Lao-tse points to his right. He says; GO SPEAK TO THE MAN WHO SITS BENEATH THE BO TREE. HE WILL TELL YOU THE WAY WHICH LEADS AWAY FROM THE WHEEL’S WEIGHT.
Jacob approaches a man bathed in light who is sitting beneath a huge flowering tree.
The man calls out; I HAD A VISION, JACOB. I SAW BEINGS PASS AWAY AND THEN BE RE-BORN: LOW AND HIGH: OF GOOD COLOR AND BAD; IN HAPPY AND MISERABLE ESTATE: ACCORDING TO THE LAW.
AND WHICH WAY LEADS OUT FROM THE THREAD OF THIS CIRCLE? Jacob asks.
Gautauma replies: NOW THIS, O MONK, IS THE NOBLE TRUTH OF PAINNG: BIRTH IS PAINFUL; SICKNESS IS PAINFUL; OLD AGE IS PAINFUL; SORROW, LAMENTATION, REJECTION AND DESPAIR ARE PAINFUL. NOW THIS, O MONK, IS THE NOBLE TRUTH AS TO THE CAUSE OF PAIN: IT IS THAT CRAVING WHICH LEADS TO RE-BIRTH: COMBINED WITH PLEASURE AND LUST, FINDING PLEASURE HERE AND THERE; NAMELY, THE CRAVING FOR PASSION, THE CRAVING FOR EXISTENCE, FOR NON-EXISTENCE. AND THIS, O MONK, IS THE NOBLE TRUTH AS TO THE CESSATION OF PAIN: THE CESSATION, WITHOUTA REMAINDER, OF THAT CONSUMING CRAVING AND NEED: ABANDONMENT, FORESAKING, RELEAST, NON-ATTACHMENT. AND THIS, O MONK, IS THE NOBLE TRUTH AS TO THTE WAY WHICH LEADS TO THE CESSATION OF PAIN: THIS IS THE NOBLE EIGHT-FOLD WAY: NAMELY, RIGHT VIEWS, RIGHT INTENTION, RIGHT SPEECH, RIGHT ACTION, RIGHT LIVING, RIGHT EFFORT, RIGHT MINDFULNESS, RIGHT CONCENTRATION…
AND WHICH FAITH SHOULD I CARRY WITH ME? Jacob asks.
BELIEVE NOTHING, Gautama responds, SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD IT, OR BECAUSE IT IS TRADITIONAL, OR BECAUSE YOU YOURSELF HAVE IMAGINED IT. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOUR TEACHER TELLS YOU, SIMPLY OUT OF THE RESPECT WHICH YOU HAVE FOR YOUR TEACHER. BUT WHATSOEVER, AFTER DUE EXAMINATION AND ANALYSIS, YOU FID TO BE CONDUCIVE TO THE GOOD, THE BENEFIT, THE WELFARE OF ALL BEINGS – THAT FAITH YOU BELIEVE. AND THEN CLING TO IT FIRMLY. AND TAKE IT AS YOUR GUIDE THROUGH LIFE.
AND WHAT IS THE HIGHEST TRUTH YOU HAVE SEEN? Jacob cries.
Gautama responds: SUBJEDCT TO DECAY ARE ALL COMPOUND THINGS. EACH MUST STRIVE WITH EARNESTNESS FOR HIS OWN SALVATION.
Gautama reaches up and takes the right hand of Jacob. He kisses this hand. And he says: GO INTO ALL LANDS, JACOB – ADN PREACH THIS TRUTH TO EVERYONE. TELL ALL THAT WILL HEAR YOU: THAT THE POOR AND THE LOWLY, THE RIGH AND THE HIGH, ALL ARE ONE AND THE SAME. AND THAT ALL CASTES UNITE IN THIS RELIGION OF TRUTH, AS DO RIVERS WHICH MINGLE, AND THEN FLOW TO THE SEA. NOW BE GONE. BE AWAY TO CONTINUE THE WORLD OF CREATION…
Jacob is gone.
Jacob is standing in a meadow amid flowers. A stream trickles by. And an owl sounds. And geese fly.
Michael, the Archangel, appears beside the river. He says: YOU MUST RETURN WITH YOUR MESSAGE TO THE PLANE OF THE CONSTANT CHANGES, JACOB.
But Jacob replies: I DON NOT WISH TO LEAVE THIS GARDEN OF LIFE! I WISH TO STAY IN THIS GARDEN FOR EVER!
THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE! the angel responds. YOU CAN ONLY COME HERE BY THE WAY OF YOUR SON…!
BUT I DON’T KNOW WHERE MY SON IS Jacob explains.
YOU WILL FIND HIM! the angel responds. THAT MUCH IS CERTAIN. AND HE WILL GIVE YOU HIS WISDOM.
BUT I WON’T LEAVE THIS PLACE! Jacob cries. EVERY HERE IS SO PEACEFUL, SO BEAUTIFUL…!
BUT YOU HAVE NO CHOICE! the archangel replies. YOU WILL RETURN HERE SOME DAY, JACOB – AND THEN YOU WILL LIVE HERE FOR EVER! BUT FIRST YOU MUST ELARN HOW TO LIVE BY YOUR TRUTH. IT IS NOT ENOUGH THAT YOU BELIEVE, JACOB. YOU MUST LIVE YOUR LIFE IN ACCORD WITH YOUR SOUL. YOU MUST BE THE LIGHT OF YOUR SOUL. AND THEN YOU SHALL RETURN.
I WILL NOT LEAVE HERE! Jacob says boldly.
Michael responds: YOUR SELFISH DESIRE ONLY KEEPS YOU FROM LEARNING. YOU MUST SEEK TO TRANSCEND THIS, JACOB. FOR IT LEADS TO ILLUSION. NOW, BE AWAY FROM HERE! AND CARRY, WHEREVER YOU GO, THE SOUND WORDS OF CREATION!

PART III

Jacob is gone.
Jacob is perched on the edge of a crevice. Theree are rocks all around him – and below him is a canyon. The wind starts to scream – and beasts start to howl. And the cold blasts his features. And the snow begins to fall…
Jacob begins to weep, perched on this ledge. He cannot move. Fear tears at h is limbs – ties his muscles in hard knots. He tries to hide on this rock-form. He thinks only of dying…
He hears the thrashing of beasts in a thunderous fight. An animal is being gored. It screams madly – and then whimpers…
A black bear emerges at the crown of the gray rock. It has blood on its shoulders. It roars, approaching Jacob.
NO! Jacob cries. He tries to squeeze himself flat against the stone-work. He cannot hide. He is sick with his fear. His body trembles and aches. He has no strength to sustain him…
A man in a white robe sits on the edge of the cold ledge, smiling at Jacob. The moon is full. The man says: YOU HAVE SO LITTLE FAITH, JACOB.
Jacob cries; THERE’S A BEAR BEHIND ME WHICH APPROACHES TO KILL ME!
The ghost of Baha’u’llah laughs. I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DIE, he says. BUT THERE IS REALLY NO BEAR, JACOB.
Jacob turns and looks behind himself. There really is no bear.
Baha-u-llah says: YOU FEAR THINGS WHICH ARE NOT REALY, JACOB. THEY ARE THOUGHTS CLOTHED IN TERROR. THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR HERE.
He hands quaking Jacob a tattered package of papers. It is a manuscript, entitled: A Journey Through the Seasons of Hell. He says to Jaoc; WHEN YOU RETURN TO YOUR OWN LAND, TAKE THESE TRUTHS FOR A NEW DAY.
Jacob opens the charred manuscript:

TRUTHS FOR A NEW DAY:
  1. The Oneness of Humanity.
  2. Independent Investigations of Truth.
  3. The Foundation of All Religions is One.
  4. Religion must be the Cause of Unity.
  5. Intuitive Knowledge supercedes that of Reason.
  6. All Living Things are Sacred.
  7. Equality Between Man and Woman.
  8. Prejudice of all Kinds must be Forgotten.
  9. Individual Responsibility Leads to the Welfare of All.
  10. There must be:
    - Universal Peace.
    - Universal Education.
    - A Spiritual Sollution to the Economic Problem
    - A Universal Language
    - An International Tribune which Truly Governs the World.

Baha'u'llah puts these truths in a back-bag. Then he puts this back-bag on the frail back of Jacob, saying: THE COURSE OF EVOLUTION OF ALL LIVING THINGS FOLLOWS THE UPWARD PATH OF A SPIRAL LEADING IN TO HEAVEN. NOW, GO AWAY FROM HERE. AND SPEAK THE WORD OF TRUTH IN YOUR LAND TO THE MASSES WHICH GATHER TO HEAR YOU.
Jacob is gone.
Jacob is standing in a vast, eerie desert. He is alone. Streams of sand rund around his feet. All is shadow and silence.
He sits beside a purple cactus-plant to think. He is hungry. And tired. His thoughts wander. He closes his eyes to rest…
A dream comes to join him.
There are three women in black who approach an old well. Three bricks are missing from the base of the well. And the rope has been broken. The bucket lies in the sand. The largest of these women holds an abalone shell. She wears a veil on her face. Laughter seeps from out of this cloth. Insane laughter. She mutters something in a violent tone. Jacob does not understnad what she is saying. The other women laugh – and point their fingers at Jacob. The middle-sized woman pours marbles from a bowl. They splash at the bottom in the water in the well. But the bowl is never empty. The more she pours, the more marbles she has. The smallest of these women holds a fist of cherries. She squeezes the cherries until the blood runs out. Her other hand holds a wadding of palm leaves. She sings a foreign lament. And then wipes the blood of the cherries on the thigh of her frock, saying; COME LOOK IN THE WELL, JACOB! THE WORLD OF THE REFLECTION LURKS AND LEAKS ITS ESSENCE THROUGH THE SPRINGS OF THIS WELL!
Jacob approaches the well. He looks down a tthe water. Thereis an old man lying in bed wrapped in white sheets. A doctor stands beside this bed. A woman dressed in scarlet holds the dead man’s hand. She is weeping; and she is frightened.
WHO IS THIS MAN? Jacob asks the women.
IT IS YOU, JACOB HEIMKREITER! the smallest woman cries. CAN’T YOU SEE THE WEB-LIKE SCAR ON HIS HAND?
A camel walks past the garden of trees. A pock-marked man rides on the back of the camel. It is Killian, the doctor. He cries, as he rides: YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN BETTER CARE OF YOUR HEALTH, JACOB! BECAUSE NOW YOU AR DEAD! AND THERE’S NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU!

Clearly, Jesus studied religions of the world, Judaic, Egyptian, Hindu; Buddhist, which was an attempt to reform Hinduism, as Jesus attempted to reform Judaism. He disappeared for many years, apparently to study in India. He clearly did not reject all doctrines but the Judaic. Jesus is the sumtotal of all the religious wisdoms of the world.

New religions sythesize the religious wisdom that came before; they do not reject the old religions, they update them.

Jesus attempted to reform Judaism.
Jesus did reform Judaism. He completed it. The reform He initiated, we call Catholicism.

Now, if you believe that Catholicism today stands in need of reform, I am inclined to agree with you. But remember that Jesus said, “not a jot, not a tittle of the Law shall pass away, until it is all fulfilled.”

Similarly, the reform of the religion Jesus established cannot contradict the religion Jesus established.

Martin Luther attempted to reform the Church of Christ, and ended up, instead, watering it down and creating scandal in the eyes of the whole world. Because he presumed to contradict the Church Jesus had established.

The Pharisees and the Scribes rejected Jesus when He came to them. If they had not, then Jesus would indeed simply have reformed the Judaic religion, and today we would have the Judaic Church rather than the Catholic Church, centered in Jerusalem rather than in Rome. But free will is real, and the Pharisees and Scribes chose to reject Jesus for the protection of their own power. Therefore Our Lord said to them, “the Kingdom shall be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce its fruit.”

Take Martin Luther, then, as an object lesson. Our Lord also spoke, “whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me, scatters.” Martin Luther contributed to the scattering as opposed to the gathering. Do not make the same error!
