PLEASE HELP!

I need help understanding this article. reagancoalition.com/articles/2013/20130408005-pressure-army.html

Is this ‘listing’ made by our entire US ARMY? Is it the opinion of one person? Does this list come from President Obama? Is this true?

What does this mean for all of us Catholics and others?

Will our military now be enabled to fire upon us, as some theories say?

Are we extremists?? I’m so tired of this nonsense.

As I understand this article this was the opinion of the person making the presentation and does NOT represent US Army policy. I was a Chaplain Assistant, but also worked in the Equal Opportunity field. When classes like this are presented they are usually not vetted first. In fact unless it’s a certificate producing school or class there is usually not vetting done of any classes like this. The army relies on the professionalism of its officers and non-commissioned officers and that faith is USUALLY justified. In this case it was not.

Do you know if the individual who is responsible for this was reprimanded and his role restricted for any future “teaching” assignments?

This is a non-news story. Do not get upset or read too much into it. Here’s the bottom line you can accurately take away from it-

-the person who put together the slide for the briefing/class either
a) doesn’t know how to do proper research and prep work
b) doesn’t know how to find Army approved and standardized slides for the briefing/class
c) doesn’t know how to ask other EO (equal opportunity) reps for their slides
d)is lazy and simply “copied and pasted” from the first legit sounding website they came across
e) a combination of the above

-the immediate supervisor (boss) for the person who made the slide has poor leadership skills (leadership 101a- always review your subordinates work, especially if it is for a briefing or class; leadership 101b- always know what your subordinate is working on)

-the chain of command for the unit the person who made the slide belongs to has poor leadership skills (see above + leadership 101c- never blame your subordinate for messing up when said mess up could have been prevented by doing your job as a leader)

The fact that the slide has two Christian faiths on it is the least of the issues I would have with it if I was this person’s supervisor (random order, random selection, no indication of the threat to soldiers or mission, broad groups mixed with specific [Sunni Muslim and AQ], poor slide creation skills [yes, looks actually matter in regards to slides for a class, especially a mandatory and boring class], etc).

Are we extremists? Well, that term could mean different things to different people. But if it means: extremely different than the world at large: in this day and age, I would say yes.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

It is wonderful to have answers that make sense. I am not very trusting of our world right now, especially the US, nor the media coverage we are receiving. I try to research as much as I can, but no way I would have found what you guys were able to provide on this, and that’s real world experience and knowledge of our military from the inside out!
